Lightbulb Have you installed an automatic waterer?

Need help.

Putting in an automatic waterer. It calls for an 8 in pvc pipe to be set vertically in the ground. This pipe's only function is to bring up warm air to help with preventing freezing.

A four foot section of this big pipe costs $150. Looking for an alternative to this expense. I live in New Mexico and last year the ground never even froze, so this feels like overkill for my climate.
