Greetings from Manitoba

Hello All,

I currently live in southeastern Manitoba in a recreational area with an acre on a lake. We plan to move to a larger property next spring/summer near a Provincial park with miles and miles of trails to ride. I have a 3yr old red chestnut Peruvian Paso who is currently in training with his breeder. It's been an educational experience learning about Peruvians and their training/tack after being used to Western riding/training/tack.

On the non-horse side I breed and show toy poodles, although I started off with Bull Terriers some 30 years ago. I've spent all my life around animals and have some great memories of the farm.

It's great to have a forum like this where there's so much good advice and people who are willing to help when they can. I look forward to dropping in from time to time.

Wishing you all happy trails!

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Canadian

I've gotten to ride Peruvians a couple of times - the first time at a regional show, in with everyone warming up in their tradional tack and clothes - and it was a very good first impression!

The tack does take some getting used to doesn't it. I have to say the saddle is one of the most comfortable I've every owned, it seems to just naturally seat you properly in balance.

After an accident 11 years ago I thought I would never ride again, at least not without enduring a lot of pain for several days after. I was devastated about it until I come across an article on the Peruvian Paso. I was so fortunate to find a breeder close by and thrilled when they allowed me to ride one of their horses. Tears, elation and a soaring heart were what I experienced, not a pain or even so much as a twinge. I was sold on the breed right then and there.
