Working on my first one ...

Hi, Newbie here. To make my lifelong equine experience very short:

1. big brother had a horse
2. I was terrified of horses
3. rode trails on vacation growing up
4. I was terrified of horses
5. Grew up & had a daughter who I wanted to burden with fulfilling my unrealized dreams.
6. She takes riding lessons & I've made friends with horses. LOL

This has been the most fulfilling experience. My daughter is a daredevil & is afraid of nothing. While I'm afraid of everything, her lesson time has given me time to spend with some wonderful horses on the ground. Petting, grooming, talking to them, ect... I'm looking at a miniature horse for myself as I'm more comfortable on the ground than in the seat right now. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of something even more wonderful. I don't have a lot of land so I thought a mini would work perfectly.
So glad to have found your site. I'm sure I'll be able to learn a lot here.
Thanks!
Jana

Hi Jana! Welcome from Kentucky,I lived in Marshall,Missouri, for 6 years. My daughter graduated from high school there. Glad you have joined us on HT. I have always loved horses, had them till mey teens, rode occasionally until I was in late 40s,then my daughter and oldest granddaughter started taking lessons and I got involved with them again. Now both granddaughters take lessons, oldest one is into jumping and she is the daredevil, youngest one is slowly learning how to do things. We mainly ride ours in pasture or on country roads just for pleasure. If you don't get addicted from HT,you will probably get that way from working around them as your daughter takes her lessons.
