Hello from Tennessee

Hello, my better half has a account on here, and it seemed like a knowledgable bunch of people so I figured I'd give it a try also.

Well, my name is John, but alot of people call me Johnny. I am 18 years old, and have never riden anything but QH's. My current horse is a 15.1 hand QH whose name is Comanche. I am into calf roping, team roping, and team penning as well as just every day trail riding and running barrels for fun. I rodeo in my spare time but that seems to be running short lately. Playing on my horse a eating/sleeping is about all I do besides the job. I work at Walden Creek Stables (trail guide and cattle care), but seeing it's winter time I am full time and only getting 15-20 hours a week, so I am looking for a new job.

Well, enough about me... Here are some pictures.

I told the fiance to stop taking pictures!! SHe didn't, so we did some clown skiing!!

welcome to HT!

I've done some breakaway in my time, and my cousin is a calf roper, but I'm not a good roper... been around it a lot though!

Glad to see another roper on here!

Hi John! Greetings from Kentucky. My daughter has a paint named Apache. I really like your saddle. I have a saddle that belonged to my grandfather that had taps over the stirrups,I really loved riding with it when I was young.

Yes, I love my saddle. My fiancee bought it for me when I broke the tree on my old simco (that was older than me I might add) this past year at the Knox co fair rodeo on the calf roping... Needless to say I uped a time of 39 seconds because the tree was broken and the lariat wouldn't stay taunt.

My new saddle is a Dale Martin buckaroo Wade a-fork tree mother hubbard round skirting pencil roll high back hardseat saddle (FQHB, 7" gullet, horn is big post 3.5" high, 4" cantle, 9.5" sewptback swell), custom leather work by donnie cox of Sevierville includes the 18" full basket waeve tooling with a daisy tapaderos, 9" wide rear girth, saddle bags, 26" w/ over neck strap trippin collar, mule hide wrap, rope strap off tree, and sterrling silver beveled conchos. I use 9-plait horse hair roping reins, and a one eared headstall from the co-op with a o-ring snaffle.

What kind of saddle do you have? Vintage saddles are always neat to own and have restored. Just wish I could find a pre-1984 Wade a-fork to redo my old Simco.
