Hello from Ontario!

Well, I have to say that I have been reading posts and everyone seems very close, so i thought I should introduce myself before i join the family!

Well, my family has 20 horses, drafts and draft crosses. we run a horse drawn carriage business in ontario. We have Percherons, Clyds, spotted drafts, belgiums, and lots of crosses. We also have all of thoes breeds crossed with hackney, morgan, canadian, and ?. We tend to look for a type of horses, rather then using specific breeds. our horses range between 4 and 24. oh ya, and they all feel like lazy-boys when you ride them!

Personally I have two horses. A grade pinto pony and a trakehner. (my pony is 14.1hh, and my trakehner is 17.2!) My pinto, patches is 12. I have had her for 11 1/2 years! we are almost like sisters. Together we do western and english. She loves to run barrels, and well, any games. She does jump and do some dressage, although its not her faviorte. I have shown her halter and showmanship, just a bit. Mostly we just trail ride, she'll go anywhere, including up stairs, and in the house, but she loves to swim and will practically dive into lake ontario!

My Trakehner is 4. He is my project horse, and hopefully my future eventer. He's bay with four white feet and a sweetheart. He has an amazing attitude and work ethic and has been a pleasure to train. He was voted mr. personality by thoes who know him, and has also earned the title "war horse" because of his size! I am exited for his future, and as a boasting mother, i must say i think he's going to be wonderful on the show circuit.

I look forward to chatting with you and sharing horsey information and stories (I sure have enough of thoes!)

Wow! You do have quite the family! I knew a girl once who owned a Belgium and she took that horse everywhere, on the trails, rode him bareback and without a bridle! He was about 17 hands too. She could even jump up on him from the ground without a mounting block!! Amazing! Welcome from Colorado!

Welcome from Alberta, your herd sounds very interesting, and your family business even more so--I want to train my Canadian gelding to pull in future if I can get the equipment together again--been a lot of years since I had cart horses.

Welcome from Wyoming!

A paint pony and a Trakehner, I am sooo jealous. Pictures please, if you can!

Have you done eventing before? I am just starting eventing, didn't get to show last year for a bunch of reasons, hopefully this year I will get to.
