Hello from another newbie

I've been hangin' out here for a few months and just lately posted a couple of replys so I thought I'd better say a proper "hello" and introduce myself. After 20 some years I finally got my husband to move from the city out to the country and now (big, happy sigh!) I have three horses, three dogs, a cat and four parrots and four chickens. It's been almost a year and I LOVE IT! We were boarding two horses for almost three years before we got our own place. I was into horses when I was a teenager with my mom. but it took me way too long to get back into it! I've owned a dog grooming business for eight years and also trained German Shepherds in Schutzhund, which is a German type of training developed for the breed. It's pretty cool! I've been involved with animals one way or another most of my life. Can't imagine it any other way, can you? I just want to say "Nice to meet you all!". Carla

Hello Carla! I'm so happy for you!

I LOVE German Shepherds too. A very close friend of the family, JL Sinykin brought some of the first shepherds over from Germany back in the '20s, which at that time wasn't the best politically, if you can imagine! And he started the Master Eye Foundation. His kennel was the La Salle kennels. His son Marvin kept it running, breeding and training up until... oh maybe 10 years ago. The city grew around him and he had to close the kennel. When my kids were very, very little we lived there for about a year caring for the dogs. It was GREAT!

I love shepards. I have a Shepard/Lab mixed. Mostly shepard......smartest dog I ever had. I wish I had gotten another shepard instead of the goofy Labs I bought. Labs are so immature. If I ever get another dog it will be a shepard or at least mixed with shepard as I like mutts the best. I am starting my female chocolate lab in agility classes this spring. Now that my kids are older I need something to take up some time. It's sad when the kids grow up and get a life of their own.
