Thank you for letting me join in!

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad to have found this online horse community. The sadness of my very old horse nearing the end of his earthly life is what led me here. I was searching for others' beliefs on whether horses go to Heaven, and came across the most fascinating, insightful, thoughtful discussion while searching...and it was a Horsetopia discussion. I read and read...and then felt I had to join this group.

My beloved Smoochie is still hanging on, but I'm just so heartbroken about the final goodbye that is an inevitable part of sharing our hearts with our horses (and other pets). I pray that he has a bit more time left, but I can't stand the thought of him suffering, and I have to believe that when his time comes, that God will take him home to a wonderful place, full of green pastures, and his old friends who have passed on before him, and that we will be together again one day, best buddies forever. I know most of us here must feel that exact same way about our wonderful horses.

Thank you for letting me write...

...Belinda

Thank you so much, Terry. Sharing with like minded horse lovers is such a helpful outlet, and a real blessing. Its very kind of you to make me feel welcome. I know that the love we feel for these beautiful equines is a direct measure of the deep hurt we feel at these very sad times. Was Roxy one of your horses?

Thank you roberts617 and gators mom...yes, this seems like an exceptionally nice forum...and horse lovers do share such a strong bond. Horses for *horse people* are always a passion, aren't they? Never a lukewarm kind of love.

Yes, Roxy was my 8 year old OTTB mare that I lost to colic in September of 2008. She's the gray mare I'm riding in my avatar.

I'd love to see a picture of your horse(s).

Hi Terry,

I'm so sorry about yout gorgeous TB mare...what a stunning girl, and that lovely grey color! I've never had a grey horse, but they are so strikingly pretty, especially in that elegant TB form.

I wish I had a photo of Smoochie on this computer, but I will share one of him later. The infamous Brownie is looming in the foreground of my avatar. He's my curious george...always nosing around in everyone's business!

Thank you horselady...I read the thread you shared about Silly. She sounds like a wonderful, strong, sweet spirited horse, and beautiful too. Does her daughter look like her at all?

Its so hard to let them go, no matter how green the pastures of Heaven may be, we just want more time with them here on earth. My Smoochie still has his appetite, and a bit of energy today, thanks to a vitamin B shot, but I am still scared. Horses inspire a fiercely loyal love, don't they?

Brownie, no Shamurra is a copper bay like her dad, Shar Casure Sham (Bombay) and you bet Silly was the best, Your gelding will tell you when it is time for him so just let him be a horse and cherish every day.

Thank you, Belinda. Roxy was my pride and joy. She and I shared such a strong bond, and unfortunately she was taken from me suddenly and far too soon, but I know she's running pain free in eternal green pastures waiting until we can be together again.

Your Brownie is a cutie. I love the "curious george" attitude. My hubby's mare, Zena, is the same way. She always has to know what's going on. I look forward to seeing pictures of your beloved Smoochie when you get a chance.
