Jake the nuaghty, naughty boy....

Went outside to do a little work with the boys last night...

Jake was up first, and he just started off on the wrong foot.

First off, we run up to meet mom, but then realize work is sure to follow, so he decides to turn around when I walk up to him....

He still stopeed and waited, but he turned his butt to me first, so that was strike 1.

Then we go out, get tied up so we can brush up and get fly sprayed.... Then he decided he'd try to pull back on his rope... He didn't pull hard, and just for a second until he had a strong scolding and then gave up... But strike #2

After that, we saddle up and I lead him accross the yard.. and I hear a noise.. What the ???

I turn around, and from the sounds of it, he was really trying to "make a show" but he was just hoping his back end up... Probably not even 2 inches off the ground.... Apparently he was trying to buck... Didn't get it done, but made it "sound" cool... When I finally stoped laughing... He realized he was in big trouble, since he had just commited strike #3...

SSSoooo.... Lots of lunging followed, turning both directions, joining up, ect. worked with our feet, then made him practice walking THROUGH the mud hole and not around it (his favorite thing ya know ) followed by a lllooonnng talk with MR. Post (you know how mr. post can put so much sense back into a colt?!)

Then we did some ponyin from the "old faithful" until Jake realized he was now sweating and really REALLY wanted to go back to his old lazy self!

He spent some more time with MR. post, and then we made a short ride around the neighborhood.

This combination of a couple weeks off with no real work, followed by added alfalfa to his meals, and "hanging" out with the bad kids got to his head, but I'm pretty sure he has decided momma is his best option at this point

So there we have it... My lazy horse can "attempt" to buck but it was really quite comical

We'll see tonight if he decides to try it again

Oh naughty Jake I hate when they get in those "moods". Hopefully he will be much better for you today!

Ya know, it seems every horse we have ever had the gets the pleasure of meeting MR. Post comes back with some serious insight

We used to catch all our horses atleast once a day and let them stand tied for about a hour or so...

And you would not believe the difference it would make in one. I think I may reinstate that policy, atleast for Jake.... You know teenage boys... Sometimes the need to listen to wise MR. post to better understand thier priorities again!

That might of been it.. He thought he'd strut around like a new rooster at the hen house.... Until mom put a crink in his plans

Yup, Spider has enjoyed the Zen expereince of being one with the post.. so is Jesse, and Peppy will be doing that today..

It is a wonderful way to let them learn to relax.. followed by a nice grooming and loving session..

Jake, don't you know that it not nice to PO mom. Haven't you learned anything. What a naughty boy, he attempted to be. I think he realized that mama was not playing. Got to love those days though.

Well, atleast even when he has "those" days, he's still not that bad.

I swear... like two laps of trotting on a lunge line and he's begging to give up and be good again

Follow that with the "mud" hole (he is sooo prissy, he wants to always be lazy and clean...) he realized how mad I was and decided quickly to apologize.
