Well awhile back I entered into a trade deal on a little bay filly (Ruby*the avatar*(not the best pic)). I'm putting 90 days on a colt in trade for her. I liked the way she's put together & she's not shabby on the pedigree either. So after all of this waiting to get my roundpen hauled over to where she's at, I finally got it set up Sat night(& was too sore & tired to move). Sun morning first thing I was over there. She has never been more than halterbroke, never seen a roundpen, has been in a trailer a couple times, & a been bathed once(When the people I am getting her from went to pick her up she had lived her life as a wild thing turned out, they literally had to rope her to catch her(no pens)). I train horses for a living & have started 30+ colts. So my expectations for the day were real low...I went in with the thought of hopefully getting her sacked out & teach her to move in the roundpen, ya know baby steps. I would have been plenty happy with that. Well she surpassed all expectations. We ended up getting all of that done + first saddle & first ride. I could have easily kept going with her, she took everything so well, but from my view I didn't want to push to far. Oh forgot to mention the entire time I was working with her they were having a practice roping(the roundpen is in the corner(in the arena) close to the boxes & chute. So there was alot of action going on. Hell most colts couldn't have handled half of what she did for the day, considering the very limited amount she has been handled. After I stepped on her she was more relaxed than any colt I have ever seen, nonstop BIG yawns, licking lips, sighs, the entire time I was up there. I think I've found a lifetime horse, if not so I can guarantee she's gonna be pricey. I am on horses everday, there is something about this filly. She's gonna be the cat's meow.
