Specialized Training Cost?

I was wondering what the specialized training costs in your area are.

I'm sending my stud away to a specialied reining trainer who charges $900 a month board included which I think is pretty reasonable.

I have a friend that is a professional trainer, Missouri Foxtrotters only. I think he charges about $600 a month.

My reining trainer is now $650/mo. Last time I checked with Shawn he was $925/mo but I would think it would be more now. You can get a good reining trainer any where for about $650-$850/mo who has a good amount of NRHA earnings. If they charge $900+/mo they better be a top 20 NRHA Open Trainer.

ALso I am in Ohio which is the largest area for NRHA.

Not that is the average cost of a barral trainer. The ones around here only charge that too. Not too many people use trainer for speed events. They seem to think they can do it all them selves. Run fast if you can get the horse to walk into the arena. The ones who do use a trainer or are the trainers most of their horses are not like that. Not sure why the most seem to be like that.

Barrel trainer in this area charges $500 a month and actually takes your horse to events and runs them so they get the full experience. I am getting ready to send my three year old to him because I know I am not skilled enough to train her to barrels and her be any good.

The NHRA trainers and charging about $2000 a month here. The $900 is not what most people have to pay, I have to pay a little extra because I'm sending him a mature stallion.

Does that include board? If so, then that seems reasonible to me, particularly if the trainer actually rides the horse once and a while and doesn't just pawn it off to working students like some of the high end trainers do.

If you think about it, the trainer should make at least $20.00 per ride at that level, and likey has a groom at about $10.00 per ride, so that is $30.00 per training session....20-25 sessions = $600 - $750 plus board.

Yes that does include everything. And he rides them 5 times a day and he does all the riding! So I think it's very reasonable.
