Dressage Kur= Help with music?
Okay, so here is the plan. I have a pretty little grey arab, and I want to come up with a first level kur for us to do next year. The plan is to dress him up a little(see this thread about the "roses" http://forum.horsetopia.com/random-s...ll-update.html ) sort of pretty carousel horse type, as he does have very flashy movement.
Anyways, I am not very music savvy. some of the thngs it can have: any circles, extended trot(line or diagonal) maybe a serpentine free walk stretchy trot(either circle or serpentine) maybe a lead change can do walk to canter/canter to walk... maybe some leg yeilding... pretty much anything...

Sarah, if you are planning to compete at a show using EC rules, then these are the required movements for a first level Kur:
-15 meter circles at canter - Simple lead changes through trot - Lengthen stride in trot and canter (not extended) - Leg Yeild left and right - Free walk (min 15 meters at one time) - Medium walk (min 10 meters at one time) - 10 meter working trot circles - 20 meter stretch circle extented trot, flying changes, walk/canter transitions, canter circles or half circles less than 15 meters and such will result in elimination. The stretch trot has to be a 20 meter circle and not a serpentine. The best way to come up with a Kur is to come up with your test, and once you have it down, video it, and use the video to match up with the music. If you want a really good Kur, then you have to wait until as close as possible to the test day to find music as your horse's gait will change with training. Also consider the footing...your horse will move different on grass than on sand. At the show last year the judges commented that they like "polite" music (nothing harsh or offensive) and they like the free walk to have relaxed music. You can order special music that is good for free styles. Karen
