Zip is riding again!

Woo hoo! Yesterday evening I said Im gonna do it. Im going to ride Zippy again. He has been cleared by the vet and farrier to get back into work. So why not. He's had a good lay off so I expected the worst out of him. I saddled up Togan as well to be our "leader" and let my friend (who is a complete beginner) ride him. Shame on me but it was already 7:30pm so I didnt bother to lunge Zippy.

Well we head off at a brisk walk and Zip was the perfect gentleman the entire time. We just went down the road a bit to the back roads so that I wouldnt have to worry about any traffic. He was great. He wasnt a brat towards Togan, normally he is, would go ahead or follow behind him or best of all walk right next to him quietly. We did a few transitions from walk to a jog and back down again. I was kinda scared to do more than a walk but Zippy was so perfect.

I am very proud of yesterday's ride. I expected Zippy to be a bit more silly than that but he was really laid back. Mind you the last time he was ridden was a while ago and the last time he was ridden anywhere other than a round pen was in April!

Hard to believe my boy is all growed up. He isnt the scraggly 6 month old weanling he used to be instead he is now a mature 4 year old.

Im going to take him back out again possibly this weekend. I wont take him out alone yet so I have to make sure that I have a riding partner.
