eddie's crazy adventures

So since I got this new project, and would love to keep a log of the progress we've made I thought I'd do a journal, and maybe a few of you will actually read it and comment haha.

So Eddie is five, and has a history of being naughty. He came in green broke a year ago and got slapped into the local dude string, did fine for awhile, but starting acting up. He then got put through many crazy handlers, and actually ended up with a broken jaw.

So I took him in when I found out I'd have an open stall for awhile. he's a joint project, my friend Allison is going to join in on the fun, and help with the bills.

The broken jaw is now fine, vet says we have a green light to work , so now we just need a trimming ( no shoes yet, we'll wait a few months ) and we're ready for boot camp!

so today I wanted to just get aquinted, and see what kind of manners he had, plus I had some friends with me, so I didnt want to get into the tough stuff and make a scene.

I'm going to use the Buck Brannaman (http://www.brannaman.com/) slash Ricky Quinn style horsemanship, which I really believe in ( for those who dont know, it's just a style that rely's a lot of groundwork, lots of engaging the hind end, and getting the horses respect....not natural horsemanship....just a ground up way to go)

so I took dear eddie out and right away learned that we have a biting problem, so we walked.....super mouthy and didnt really pay attention to the fact that I have a personal bubble. after working on that for a bit, I turned him out and let him wander. He thought he was the coolest thing when he scared all the dressage horses I knew I liked this horse

so I'm excited! and can't wait to update

eta- thought you guys would like a picture

there's a few more in meet the horses

There is something about his look that's really appealing. I really like Buck Brannaman, sounds like a great way to get a good start on him. good luck with the project.

Shame on you, Eddie, for scaring all the dressage horses!
He sounds like he has a real personality! He should be fun to work with. Good luck with him, I will definitely be reading along!
