Looking for a great horse trainer in around Edmonton Area

Hi, everyone

I am hoping someone could pM me with recommendations on some horse trainers here in Alberta near South Edmonton Area?

I would prefer PM's so they can be frank of what they liked about the trainer and what they didn't like etc...

I am about to purchase a horse, who is not trained much at all, being I am a beginner myself, I would like someone who has alot of knowledge and I can be assured safety and confidence in the experience for me and my new baby.

Also, if they can be as discriptive as possible, name of trainer, location and a website if possible.

Thanks

The way the horse market is around here you can buy a horse trained for a most disciplines cheaper than buying an untrained horse and paying for training. You may want to figure out how much it will cost to train the horse then just add that to what you spend on the purchase??

Hi,

yes I realise the having a green horse isn't my best option, but I absolutely adore her, I started riding lessons because of her.

I also received a deal I couldn't pass up, I can board her at my neighbors for nothing, food, private paddock the works all I have to do is help him with all his horses, which I do anyways.

I am planning on having extensive riding lessons, which I go to regularly as it is, and adding additional training, such as learning horseman ship ground working with horses etc...

I am also prepared to get extensive trainning for her as well... nothing spared.

I know its Green + Green = black and blue so I am trying to make sure I do everything with knowledge and preparedness to prevent that ...

PS: almost forgot to add that I am western pleasure atm, maybe that will grow to something more, but for now just a companion trail riding etc..

Thats why I need recommendations of a VERY knowledgable trainer who can give me the peace of mind that I will not end up Black and Blue..

As for other well trained horses out there for cheapier then a non trained but when you found the horse you love, can you walk away to wonder if her life would have been better with you or without...

As it is we have too many young unbroke horses in the auction market, I don't want that to be her fate....

I am prepared Financially to get her where she should be and me too... but I don't want to have paid an arm and a leg for trainning that was not complete or problematic in the future...

Yes, she is getting her papers they haven't completed the app yet, but I do know that she has Two Eyed Jack on the Sire side, once I have all the pedigree papers I am going to look up them...

My neighbor says she has excellent Quarter Horse bloodlines... I looked up Two Eyed Jack....

As I am just learning all about horses, I have found it interesting...

Learning alot I will post more about her, because she deserves bragging rights lol

Thanks for helping me out on this one its muchly appreciated !

BlackMumba - are you getting Megan?!?! If so, I hope it works out great, and am very excited for you! At least you already have a strong bond to start off with!

Are you on the Alberta part of the forum? It might be good to post this question there too. I'll have to think on this and see if I have any ideas... I know of a really good trainer, but she's mainly English... I'll PM you.

Yup, I remembered . I think I suggested taking riding lessons in the meantime, sending her to a trainer, and then taking lessons on Megan with the trainer (or something like that ), where there's a will, there should be a way, and it sure sounded like you and her were meant to be! Congrats, I'm very happy and excited for you!

When you first log on to the forum, and there are all the different categories, at the bottom, there is a "regional chat" sub-forum and Alberta has one. There are instructions on how to get access to it. Gives you more options!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to HT!! Am a first-time horse owner myself and it is very exciting to finally own your own horse. Unfortunately, I don't know of any good trainers in the Edmonton area -- would love to know of a good western trainer/instructor as well. PM me if you find a good one.
