Josie's progress journal

So, I thought I would keep a journal on Josie's progress. I will update with photos as well. I am far from being a trainer, but thought it would be fun to keep a journal on our journey!

Sunday (Nov 4th):
We got Josie loaded up at BM's other barn. She was a little hesitant at first but finally loaded up. It was about a 15 minute drive from the barns. Josie settled into her stall pretty well!

Monday: We let Josie settle in for the day and evening. I loved on her (found her favorite spot to itch!) and gave her a few horse cookies.

Tuesday:
I went into her stall and brought her out to be groomed. Josie stands pretty quietly to be groomed. I am impressed with how good her ground manners are! I don't know if it is the size difference in her and Desay...but there is a difference!

After a quick grooming session, I decided to see how Josie did on a lunge line. We have a lot to work on while lunging. Josie didn't freak out, she just wanted to go one way. I could get her to go counter clock wise a few times, but then she was stop. Also we are going to work on voice commands while lunging. Josie knows "Whoa" but that is about it.

After being on the lunge line for a few minutes, we moved to the next issue. Josie needed to get some grass! I let her graze for about 30 or so minutes. She was in horsie heaven.

After the grazing, I decided to call it a day. It was pretty chilly and windy outside.

I will give her the day off tomorrow and might work with her Thursday. I am looking at moving her out of her stall by the end of the month. I am hoping I can get her to trust me enough by then to catch her in the three acres.

This is the only real picture I got:

Thanks guys! I am already smitten with her myself. She is so smart and willing..even if she doesn't trust me totally yet. We're going to work on getting her to pick up her feet soon.

She has a HORRIBLE time with the backs. I am not looking forward to this new adventure.
