Trailer loading, I think not!

I belive this man has the wrong idea on how to load a horse. To me it is a very dangerous situation for the horse and the man.

I agree! I would never try to load a horse in that situation. We have always been able to get our horses to jump in the trailer with us standing beside them and they jump right in this seems very dangerous.

He looked like the reason the horse didn't want or couldn't get in the trailer. I don't think he will be the next CL !

This isn't the way I'd do things, and I also didn't like the way the "war bridle" seemed to be pinching off the horse's breathing, but to be honest, it's not as bad as I was expecting... He doesn't jerk on or hit the horse, he pets him and calls him as good boy, and allows him to leave the trailer a few times and go back on. I certainly wouldn't consider the guy a master horseman from that demo though!

Exactly what I was thinking too - nope, not a way I would train either...

I'm not saying I agree with this guy or anything, but many years ago I had a set of horse training books by Professor Beery, and I think that may be where these methods were adapted from. Prof. Beery talked a lot about putting a horse on the ground (gently!) to get him to submit to the handler and to listen to what he was being taught. Now, I wouldn't do that, but OTOH, Prof. Beery had lots of info about reading a horse's face to figure out his personality that was pretty spot-on, so maybe he wasn't a COMPLETE crackpot.

Kept waiting for the saddle to turn on him. And the trailer loading, well, it was laughable.

I have seen hobbles used to good effect on intractable horses - but an intractable horse is a rarity....

He had that horse all nervous b/4 he even started with the loading exercise when he put on the **war halter** and started yanking on it for no reason when the horse was just standing there so peacful !!! I hate it when people think they are trainers......poor horses are the innocent victims of stupidity.

What just because the horse was perfectly calm before he stuck that contraption on its head and would have walked into the trailer calmly before, says NOTHING about his training methods at all...

The bucking video, well all I can do is shake my head.
