Finally found a Dressage Trainer!

Melbourne/Palm Bay is a pretty hard place to find a decent dressage trainer... And I finally came across one that seemed like she had a nice facility, and she seems very nice.. She's a grand prix rider, too! I've heard loads of good things about her, and she works closely with Paula Kierkegaard (amazing clinician/trainer) who comes to do clinics quite often at her facility..

Lisa, my hopefully new trainer, has a 20+ acre facility catering to dressage, hunters and jumpers.. She has an awesome covered arena which she does all of her dressage lessons in.. I'm very excited to start with her.. I'll be riding my 17 year old mare, to better my seat and aids, and help my mare's canter.. And hopefully enter some shows soon! I was very pleased to hear that she had room for a new client..

My B/O knows her, and I name dropped, so maybe that helped... But, I'm pretty excited.. My only fear is that I'll get there, and take the lesson, and she'll have alot of negative things to say instead of constructive criticism... She has Paula Kierkegaard doing a clinic at her facility on August 17-20, so I'm thinking about riding 1 day in it.. Which would be nice... I don't know if I'm more excited about getting the help, or finally getting lessons again..

Thank ya I've been debating for so long over whether to go with the trainer who is 10 minutes away, or the trainer who is 45 minutes away... Both seem very well qualified (and both GP riders) Lisa is only 10 minutes down the road from us, so it will be an easy, stress free haul I'm excited!

Sounds exciting... and yes, many Dressage trainers can be less then "sensitive" when giving "advice"... BUT if you take it as a way to imporve, you will do very very well...

Can't wait to hear how it goes...

Yeah, I've heard they can be pretty hardcore... But the lady seems very nice, and hopefully she's the same way in her lessons... Time to go out and buy a replacement bridle for the one I broke..
