Progress??

I think so!!

I found a VERY nice trainer, came with excellent recommendations to come evaluate Zippy this evening. I figured this was a good day to do it, since it was cooler out and had a light breeze. I was so nervous! The man was absolutely great! Very gentle, yet firm with Zippy. We took him out to the round pen to show what he could do.

Well I was imagining the worst to happen of course. He blows up, runs him over, bucks like a wild bronco or something of that sort. Well to my amazement it was of course completely the opposite. Zippy was lunging like a champ, changing directions, wallk, trot, canter and even picked up the correct leads everytime! There were no bucks, no stiffness or head throwing, nothing. It was like he's been doing it his entire life. The trainer was stunned and well, so was I! We put the bridle on and sent him off again, no problems. Then we practiced fake mounts, just teaching him to "stand" and not move while someone is mounting (no weight was placed, just the "act").

Im just beaming. And the trainer even went on to say that Zippy was one of the easiest colts he's ever handled. He was amazed! Of course, I knew that already. He EVEN offered to train him at half price. Which is great, since I probably wouldnt have been able to afford the full price! It includes going to schooling shows and my taking lessons with him at least twice per week. How awesome is that!? So it looks like we might have a winner. I have several months to decide, since he wont be going off to anyone's facility until November.

Im so proud of my boy!
