Mocha gets a trainer and other pics from the weekend

Mocha is 8 years old and cute as a bug, but she is lacking in any discipline and manners. I have been training her since I got her but she was 7 and unruly and i just dont have time to ride her like she needs.

I met a girl (hay customer)who is a great trainer, unfortunately i cant afford her rates. Fortunately she took a liking to me and to Mocha and asked me if she could come out and work with her for me (for free). This girl is very knowlegeable and Mocha is coming along great. I am paying her in hay, tack and grooming supplies.
Anyway I took a bunch of pics of the animals this past weekend and thought I would share.

On saturday we had 2 neighbor girls come over to ride. The one who rode Peppy is a rank beginner and her sister has had lessons (she rode Mocha) so all the riding pics are of them and the bath pics are the trainer
.
The first time i ever tried to bathe Mocha 2 years ago she charged me when i touched her with the water and about knocked me down, i thought it was a fluke until she did it 2 more times, so i asked Ricky to bathe her and didnt tell him what she did and she did the same thing to him. So he put her in the cattle chute and poured 5 gallons of water over her and she let us bathe her after that, but we dont bathe her often because she still gets upset.

When the trainer asked to bathe her after a workout i told her it wasnt a good idea because she freaks out..well here iare some pix of her and the trainer giving her a bath....

doesnt she look upset??

this is the neighbor girl on Peppy

the older sister on Mocha

and I had to share a cute pic i took of Papas little son lying down with his front legs out front of him

Gail, how can you say such things,.., "lacking discipline and manners".
Mocha is 'obviously' a perfect 'Angel',.., I think I see her halo.

(Glad she is minding her 'manners' better these days)

miss mocha was a little rough the first year, then for about a year she settled in and started behaving like a great horse.

only recently she started bucking when she is asked to do something she doesnt want to do and she will also rear a little if i insist. and her most recent new habit is kicking. she hasnt really kicked in the 2 years i've owned her now she kicks at everything and anything. i dont think shes kicking in anger, mostly just acting frisky and sometimes to warn us not to mess with her. we are nipping that little habit in the bud as fast as we can. every kicking episode gets immediately corrected.

she goes through stages. she had a spooky stage, a stubborn stage, a stupid stage now shes in her bratty phase.

maybe soon she will be a mocha decaf but right now, not so much.

Just a thought, realising I'm not there and don't know the whole story, IME a horse that just starts bucking is usually saying that something hurts. Since you've been riding her, her body condition has probably changed and maybe the saddle is not fitting as well as it used to. I'm sure you've thought of this already but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Also, please check the year on your camera...I sure hope it's off a little. lol

yeah david, its a pain issue, only thing is she IS a pain, she's not in pain.
she acts the same way with or without saddle, she just gets bratty when she doesnt get her way.

oh and i'm glad you noticed that datestamp on my camera...how funny is that date?

lol. yeah she doesnt look to impressed with the bath. shes very cute though. and i love the pic of the calf. i had a holstein calf for the summer stay in our dog run(1/2 acre) he loved playing with the dogs and vise versa. i was thinking that Pete the calf would think hes a dog after being treated like one, but no the dogs thought they were cows. they seen him eat grass so they had too, he mooed so they had to make a weird noise. they even got excited to eat calf starter and corn. the dogs stole a corn on the cob, pete was fighting for the husk and jag was fighting for the cob. it was halarious to see.
