I Love My Horse :)

I know i know, it's not going to last forever, and we're going to have our good days and bad days, but i just want to say i love my horse

This is my first horse of my own, and i'm trying to do everything right. I can now walk up to him confidently without him "shying" away and can halter him easily. This guy WANTS to work. He ties (he did when i bought him, but he did pull when i approached him when i went to look at him), bathes, picks up his feet. He's had his feet trimmed twice (they were BAD) and the farrier likes him. I can brush him and touch him all over. When i go to pick up a foot, he adjusts his weight before i even ask him and rests his foot. No fight at all! he backs away from pressure on the halter like an old pro, and will drop his head at the lightest pressure. I've also started lunging him. I'm NOT pushing him at all, and not for more than 5 minutes both ways as he's still a baby. He also flexes very well!
I put the fly mask on him tonight just for the heck of it and to get him used to something around his face. He just looked around like "what IS this?"
Thanks for listening to me brag on my boy, i need to get some new pictures of him but he's so dirty!

Sounds like a keeper! Some horses just get ahold of you, and it seems this one suits you to a "T". thanks for sharing!

Gotta love having a horse with a laid back attitude. I recently saw a filly, who had worn a fly mask before, shy away she was tied and when felt the pull reared and totally flipped out. It was quite scary to watch, and the person had walke towards her fairly calmly i thought.
Sounds like your doing a good job. How old is he? what are your plans for him?

Thanks TB, I did make the mistake of tying him the first time i tried to bathe him...and he did pull a little but i shut the water off and worked on not pulling just so it wouldn't become a habit.... it's a scary thing, im not sure why i was such an air head and tied him in the first place... so now i definitely make it a point not to tie him when i'm exposing him to something new.

He's a long yearling, and my plans are still up in the air...i'm wanting to send him to training next spring/fall (IF he's ready) and do a little of everything and find out what he likes to do. He's definitely bred for cutting but we'll see.
