Gbar, Di her First Trail Ride PIC HEAVY

Ok here is Di on her first bigger trail ride. She is really really a quiet mare.. Even more so than Casey.. She is really really a nice girl... I just missed the pic of a lifetime with her laying down in a mud puddle with Wayne. We all just died laughing.. She did it ever so gracefully.

my daughter on her mare

Sorry so many, but it has been a while since I had seen her.

Thank you pvf. I like him.. He is a great starter trainer. The most important step of a good foundation, other than the ground work is how they are started under saddle. To me that is so important on how the future will be.

Oh boy, does she look good.. and with her size, she fits wayne.. he is one tall drink of water..

Look at her... Woohoo.. nice and quiet, nice head set - warms my heart to see her started so well and staying so soft..

Too bad you missed that photo.. that would have been a great one..

Oh it was hilarious. I was impressed with her whole demeanor. She will make a great childs mount in a few more years. She is very very sure footed to.... Nice placement, nice reach etc.. Really soft on the bit and what a collection when she backs.. She does have alot of natural potential..

Does she still float at a trot.. She always looked as if that would be such a comfortable gait to ride on her..

He said she had a float, but her getting the whole used to carrying weight and all that, had it a hair choppy at first. She is getting everything back now, the flow is there now. There is no stubburnness aout her either, she takes everything with a grain of salt and marches forward. THe only issue that there was, was the flightyness at the saddle and pulling back when tied... We put her on the CA tie rings and that has solves the issue. It taught her there was no reason to do that. He saddle issues are not there any longer either.. I never expected her to e perfect for everything at first anyway.. SHe is 4yo and was never broke to ride, so issues here and there to me are normal.

Good - sounds like everything is going along well. She was always a pretty easy mare to handle.. good mind, good attitude.. she may like being a riding horse.. especially if she ends up with your daughter to spoil her later on..

THat is definatly my plans for her... She has a purpose and there is not a dout about that one. If she doesn't have speed or heart for barrels, then she will e trained up for pleasure. I will not show APHA, but local and Saddle Clubs she will.

She still has a little while yet. Maybe a month. She has been down there since the last weekend in June and he could not start her until her Milk sack went down and she added a little weight. So she is about actually 3 weeks behind, because of those issues. Remember she was weaned from Jolena the same day we brought her home. I do not want them rushed at all when they are started. 30 days just isn't enough when you first saddle break them.

She looks great! Your trainer sure seems to do such a wonderful job with them. Think he'd be interested in starting a too-smart-for-her-own-good App mare next spring?
