What a way to spend a Sunday :)

No long trailer rides, no packed lunches, no planning, just saddled up and went out!

My friend and I went out riding around the neighborhood Sunday. It was just a last minute deal, but I had a great time! We live one street away from each other (her's is dirt). We puttered along for about 2.5 hours around the back roads of our little town. We even stopped at the store for a cold water. It was a pretty hot day until the clouds showed up. I got rained on the whole way back from her house, but it was a nice cooling rain that Mariah didn't seem to mind.

The best part was learning how Mariah would respond to 'in-town' riding. She was so great! I could not have asked anything more of her. Mud puddles, radios, cars, honking horns, dogs, giant horse-eating puddles, gates, scary moving bushes, and lots more, yet not a single bad reaction!

I did learn that Mariah is a snob. About 1/3 of the property around us has horses on it. When we passed them, she just turned her head the other way. this little mini was so trying to be her best friend, and she wanted nothing to do with him. My horses were all calling to her when we were on the way back, and those were the first horses she answered.

We had such a great time, she said she'd like to do it any Sunday we can.
Yea for Mommy time

This is the only picture I have, I don't have saddle bags, so no real camera. This was taken on the way back while it was raining. You can see our tracks from earlier that day on the dirt road.

We could've gone all day. Talk about a cadillac endurance horse! I had a TWH a while back, he was smooth, too. She is probably twice as comfortable. They have such a ground covering gait!

It was difficult to ride alongside an App I had to keep pulling her back.

Sounds like a lovely day ...

Sometimes just those rides where you dont do anything real hard, and you just ride are the best days.....

I used to purposely go riding on rainy days..my mare loved the rain.. I do have to say those were the best rides.. getting soaked and loving it....

It sounds like you had such a wonderful time and I'm GREEN with envy!! I'm now going on 5 weeks with no equine contact! I would love to be in your shoes this weekend.

Is it that obvious?

I promise to take better pics next time. I may even take a video so everyone can see her gait.
