Great Ride today:Pic Heavy

Today Belle my friend Vettre and I went on a trail ride with our saddle club We have had this planned for a few weeks but after my mare came up lame I was afraid I would not be able to go as my gelding Scout has only had a handful of rides I decided to go ahead and take him and boy did he do his mama proud! Vettre's gelding is 3 and very green and he did his mama proud as well

Please excuse the lack of periods and commas The keyboard is messing up

Here are some pictures

Belle ready to go

To top things off that saddle I was using (that's me on the bay overo green sleeveless shirt and ball cap ) is a brand new Dakota saddle that belongs to Vettre's hubby Well he doesn't ride so they decided to sell it to me for a fraction of what they paid for it I love it!
This was the best Birthday ever!!

Another thing these pictures will be my motivation to lose weight

i'm jealous! i love trail riding.. i just can't get anyone to go beside my boyfriend. where i live its all hunters and eventers and they don't like going outside of the ring. i know the eventers are retarded because you think cross country is like trail riding....but for whatever reason they refuse to go on a noncompetitive, relazing trail ride.

when I was younger there was 25 of us that got together and went for 4 hour trail rides.... not the case now

but the pics look great and like i said i am extremely jealous

What a fun ride!! You guys look great- I am really proud of Scout! Belle looks so wonderful on her pony.

In the Irons, that is so odd! Around here, eventers trail ride a lot, it is good for the horse's minds and bodies, it is good conditioning and keeps them from getting sour. My daughters' trainer comes and gets them and takes them on a big trail ride a couple of times a month. They walk and trot mostly, but also practice cantering up hills and that sort of thing.

Made me so green with envy!! I have read where alot of eventers go out on the trail to give their horses a break from training, alot of the mags encourage it.
