Extreme Trail Challenge.....I'm SOOO Excited

Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day in Dawsonville, GA. Double C Stables is having another Extreme Trail Challenge and I'll be participating. I went back in February and had a WONDERFUL time. This time I'm going with three of my friends. And the weather is suppose to be wonderful! I'm so excited for this event. We just received our ride order list and there's 25 participants this round. Just wanted to share my excited!

Ive been there to watch. I was at the Feb challenge watch a friend compete and had a ball. I wish you see more of the course. It would have been fun to watch the ground tie and then catch the goat. But you can only see a third of the course. Did you get a chance to walk the course last Feb

I hope yall have a great time. Good Luck and take lots of pics for us

Yes, I walked and rode the course back in February. I placed like 20th I think. I left after lunch to get home to my kiddo. My horse was more spooky at the judges on the trail than he was to the obstacles. Because here we are galloping down a trail and POW there's a person standing there. LOL! I'm definitely taking my camera.

Pictures are a MUST! I'm contemplating doing one of these in August... Ground-tying and catching a goat? Can you bring food? I mean, I can ground tie my boy when there's no grass and nothing exciting going on and I can catch a goat with food!

Can you type up a brief outline of what your extreme trail challenge is like?

I couldn't imagine doing a teeter totter while on a horse. Has anyone done it? Did the horse flip out??? I am pretty sure my horse would NEVER do that. but it does sound like fun if the horse could handle it.

The teter toter didnt toter but a couple inches. All the horses i saw did it with ease. What gets most of the horses is all the shinny balloons blowing around all the obsticles. Some were easy but when that shinny baloon starts twistin and movin it really freaks some of them out

Here is their website:
http://home.comcast.net/~mygeorgiaho...e/May_Results/

You can also follow their links and see a lot of pictures. If you go to the January pictures, you can see me. I'm the contestant with a purple t-shirt on riding a buckskin.

Sounds like lots of fun. I think my mount and I would probably have trouble with #1, and pretty much go downhill from there.

This sounds like so much fun! Have a great time!

It sounds a lot like a judged trail ride I did one last year, with obstacles very similar to what your flier described, but with more of a "fun" theme. Obstacles were named according so a theme (last year the theme was Pirates of the Caribbean"). We had to "walk the plank" which turned out to be a plank that ended on a blue tarp (to simulate water); ride the horse through a maze without going outside the lines; sidepass under balloons to "drop anchor" (drop a horseshoe in a water tank); pull a treasure chest on a rope behind the horse through a pattern; plus about 7 or 8 others. My absolute favorite was when we had to ride up to a rope hanging over a tree branch in front of a pile of leaves. We then had to back the horse and hold onto the rope. As we backed, a pirate dummy (that was tied to the rope we were pulling) jumped out of the leaves and stoop up in front of the horse. There were quite a few riders that got dumped at this one.

When I told my sister I was going to ride my 3YO in this event (with no training whatsoever on this type of ride) she said "well, it'll be good experience anyway". We came in 4th! Oh, on the obstacle where the pirate stood up -- she wasn't afraid at all; she was dying to check his pockets for treats.
