Jakes first big trail ride!!

Tomorrow will be Jakes first BIG trail ride, We are going to lonesome D horse camp to meet up with sswtness75 and a few other riders...

Jakes been ridden around our house and down the road but he's never been "out out" and with a big bunch of other horses like that, so here's hoping all goes well! He's been so great so far, I really hope tomorrow goes as well... We shall see I guess.

Wish us luck, and I will try to post pics as soon as we get back home.

Good luck!! I was excited at Doc's first big ride and it was just around home for about 4 hours with other horses. I can't imagine taking him out yet!

Well, it is a horse camp.... and I figure if he can handle the UPS truck flying past us at 60 mph... He should be able to concour the woods just fine

Well we made it back in one piece!!!

We didn't ride real long, got a late start and it was getting hot, but we got a good hour and half or so in...

Jake did AWESOME! Went through skinny winding trails, crossed creeks and mud puddles, all kinds of stuff. He only "spooked" once, and that was when an "unannounced" man appeared out of his trailer, but all he did was give the guy one good "snort" and then walked on!

Spirit, our 10 year old gelding was the one acting a fool, spooking at any little thing when he's usually an old pro and has seen those same trails many time Jake just looked at him like "what's ur deal" and keep walking

I only got one pic (that's what you get for leaving a man in charge of the camera) and it's a little blurry since we were moving and going up a hill... but... Here's my little man at work... And please, no one make fun of us ridding in a halter and leadrope, I've still yet to find a bit that fits him and sswtness75 wanted to try a bosal on copperhead so we just went in halter

Can you see us? It's almost camo!!

Thanks ya'll, I'm so proud of him! He even crossed a creek that way almost up to his chest and never balked...

His ears are always back in just about every pic I take of me ridding him, but it's not that he is upset or anything like that, but he is ALWAYS listening and looking to me for what he should do... I had to help him a bit today, with which way to go for easier footing, how not to swip mom off on a tree, ect. Been he's always willing and calm and ... Ok, I'll stop rambling now... I'm just really really pleased and proud of him

I expected him to be pretty good, I didn't expect him to do better then my seasoned horse But, he's surpassed my expectations once again and gave me more then I asked for so... Yep! I'm very proud and ready for our next outting! Although I'm tryin to take it slow with him, I don't want to ride him too hard to much yet ya know?
