We had planned on riding Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, but our plans ended up changing, for a good reason. Saturday we went to get some hay that we bought, we got pure alfalfa bales (baled in May), excellent hay, for $2.50 a bale. They are smaller squares, but this is some of the best hay around here, they show it in the state fair. We ended up finishing hauling around 7:30 and decided just to go to dinner, and since my best friend was in town, she decided to join us. It was nice and we really enjoyed it, even though I had to drive home, Gary had one to many Coronas.

We went home and went to bed early, I was up at 5:30 Sunday morning, and I can't even drag my butt out of bed during the week at that time

. By the time Gary got up I was showered, dressed, and had coffee brewing. I had to give him plenty of time to wake up and get ready. By the time we headed out it was nearly 7am and I was more than ready to go, got our saddles ready and set them outside. (Our tack room is our back porch, smells like leather when you enter our house.)
We grabbed the rope halters and headed to get out girls, they met us at the gate and we gave them both good groomings before saddling up. Lady was being a bit antsy, but nothing major, Candy was bored with it all and just mad she wasn't eating. Rode them around the yard a bit and started down the driveway. Lady started acting up, prancing, pulling on the reins and speeding up. Gary was a bit worried so we turned back toward the house and he rode around the yard a bit more, she was fine. Started down the drive and again she started acting up, starting to rear a bit. Got back in the yard and he asked me to try her, I got on rode her all around the yard and started down the drive a little bit, she started throwing her head and I gave a good bonk on her nose with the bosal, that stopped the head throwing. She still wanted to speed up, but it was controllable.
Gary and Candy don't have the best track record together for riding. On the ground she loves him, when he gets on her she acts up. Candy is a ladys horse, he knows it and refuses to ride her ever since she ran him into a tree and a fence. This was a few years ago, when he was first starting to ride and she didn't know him. He decided to give her a try, they got along great and we headed down the drive again. Candy was her slow steady self, and was such a good girl. Of course I'm like 3-4 lengths ahead of them because Lady is speeding along. They both did great though, we slowed down for the bridge and she sniffed it as she walked over it and I was so proud of both the girls. We only rode to my Moms house and back, didn't want to push them to hard. Lady did really good and Candy was a star. I do have a few new pics to share, but they are at home.
We got them home, groomed them again and gave them some grain. Candy is already filling out since we have brought her home and they spend a lot of time standing around, instead of eating nonstop, they aren't hungry, they are FULL and that is a great feeling for me.
