Tango as 'Experienced'

ROFL, I can't get over this. The lady I am taking instruction from has asked me and Tango to accompany her and a horse she's training out on the trails twice a week. Tango is to provide 'company' and 'leadership' to the other horse, and it's apparently working. We've done it twice, and will do it quite a few times in the coming weeks.

Tango, however, on occasion decides he's done with leading that particular parade...it's too funny. Like, "hey. I've done the leading; you're fine. Get up here and lead home now!!" and then sometimes tries to pass the other horse. ROFL.

There are so many benefits to this 'partnership.' She gets company with a relatively experienced trail horse (Tango...who isn't that experienced, but is doing well enough), Tango gets exposure to the trail with a friend, and I get the occasional assistance in riding. Heck, I even rode out on the trail in the english saddle and bit, and managed a spook well enough to have my instructor say "really good riding job!". Didn't scare me a bit, since it was a small spook; Tango's done much bigger and more thrashingly before. So it's just a great deal of fun all around, and benefits are being had by all.

No real point to this post, but just wanted to share...

Best-
Noni

It is fun. She and I are learning about each other; and Tango has a friend. It's a win/win, all the way around. I just find it funny that Tango is being considered solid enough to be the pal to show someone else/another horse the trails around here. Tickles me no end...especially since he spooked the other day (but immediately got distracted by a green patch...).

We have been having fun for the last few weeks. He went through a stubborn patch there when I switched from hack to bit and aussie to english, and I had pms and rejections from nursing school and finals to deal with so I was frustrated and depressed no end...but things are turning around.

I always have 'fun' with him, though...it's not always 'funfun', but I love being with him, and even when he's being a beanhead about things he's good for my soul. A good ride, I've found, is the icing on the cake. Tango says 'carrot cake, please.'

Good for you! I can remember not too long ago when you were worrying about even taking Tango on trails! You and Tango are an inspiration to all of us!

Merleliz, if by inspiration you mean "don't do like Noni does", then I'll agree. Other than that, nope, I'm just an average gal with a wonderful horse.

but you're right...it wasn't all that long ago that I was terrified to bring him onto the trails...now, we use it as our break and getaway from the arena work...and it's lovely. We are making progress, no doubt.

You know you and Tango are the perfect match. That is when you know you love your horse and they love you right back. Trails to me open up a whole new world to a horse and rider. You bond so much because of the trust that is needed to conquer the elements. I am an avid trail ride, ora seerfarm said a trail blazer. We do not take trails we make them.

I am so happy that you and Tango are coming along so wonderfully. That is so great.. Considering all that you two have gone through in the past your future together looks so bright.
