Lace up Packers

I use the lace up packers (with riding heels) for mountain rides. I want the increased ankle support if I need to walk very far in the rough terrain.

I'm sorry some folks have had problems hanging up with the laces. I'm not ready to give mine away. After decades of riding, and taking students, interns and clients on some pretty brushy rough trails, I've never had an issue as described. I can't even imagine any branch getting into my laces. Into my helmet, yes. I try to have safety glasses if riding fast to keep those limbs from sneaking up and getting into my eyes, but my laces? Interesting.

Anyone seen Western Horsemen's latest book "BackCountry Basics" for training trail horses?

I too insist on helmets after falling off for the first time while I was 5 months pregnant with my third. I had to get stitches in the back of my head (I rolled mid air to protect my belly from the fall). "Safety first" is now my motto.

Weekend trailriding

This weekend's weather is going to ruin me. They are calling for it to be really nice. We are planning riding Sunday to get our out of shape horses back in the swing of things. My first campover is in April on the Eastern shore of VA and I am already thinking of what to plan for the meals. Depending on the economy (and if I still have a job) will rule how many weekends I can go this year. I am interested in hearing what other weekenders do for meals. Such as, precook and take, cook over campfire, or multiple individuals bring pot luck.

Would you send me info for this trail ride. Always looking for a different place to go.
As far as camping yes precook as much as you can. I usually precook my bacon and sausage. For dinner we usually cook over a camp fire.. Also if your taking coolers those big plastic coffee cans are great for the cooler. I fill them up and freeze them put the lids back on and I usually use 2 in a cooler and they last for a 3 day weekend. I started out in a stock trailer and now I have worked my way up to an LQ...And love it

Trailriding is my passion - anyone have some good ideas for horse camping in Colorado? I like the places with corrals.
