Montana Beautiful Day...More SUMMER pics added page 2!!!

Today was the first day of hunting...but we had to go drop a horse off so I ended up just coming home and going for a nice long trail ride. The clowds started rolling in after the first hour though...but it was still a nice ride. I have pictures!!! alot of them I ride alone most the time....so I thought I could share with you guys what I see while Im riding...its like your riding with me then And of course Weizer came with...she goes with me on all my rides
All ready to go(yes I have been riding bareback and love it!)

Weizer checking out the trail...making sure its safe

The view from right behind my house

The main trail

The trails go way up into the mountians...Miles and Miles of trails...I LOVE IT!

Weizer chased this mountian grouse and she flew into the tree...Weizer chases everything! I seen a bear also...but didnt have the camera out in time and weizer chased him into the woods

My favorite view of this loop I went on today...there are alot prettier views up higher...Ill have to share with you another day

This is Wild Horse Island

And of course a picture of the troopers

Okay...last one! Lookey what we found!!!

So much different that what we see around here. We were out hunting the last few weekends, I really enjoy spending the fall in the mountains with the horses.

Oh my gosh, Horselady44, you live in an extraordinarily beautiful place...what breathtaking scenery, made all the more beautiful from the vantage point of a horse's back! And I love your trail buddy, Weizer too...its always nice to have a good canine protector around. And that third from the last photo of your beautiful horse is wonderful. I like the headstall you are using there too.

I have just discovered the trail riding part of Horsetopia forums, so now I'll have to make sure and check in here more often too...I swear, I'm getting addicted to Horsetopia!

Thanks for sharing your amazing trail ride...wish I was there with Brownie to join you guys!

As a child, my dream was to live on a ranch in Montana. Now, as I approach retirement, Montana is calling me!

YES! As far as I know there is still one small herd of 5...one stallion and his four mares. The government monitors them...and have removed quite a few because they were inbreeding with eachother
There used to be ALOT...but one year(cant remember which year) Flathead Lake froze over which is EXTREMELY rare...they havnt even found the deepest part of the lake yet...so for it to freeze over dosnt happen very often at all. Well that year...the horses tried to get off the island and fell through the ice and drown But, yes there is still that small herd on the island as far as I know. I have seen them. They are beautiful horses!

Wow that is a pretty place, love the hills.

Wild Horse Island sounds real cool, are you allowed to kayak or canoe over there and get a closer look?
