News on Hueston Woods in Ohio

Has anyone here (besides me) ridden at Hueston Woods State Park?
There's over 40 miles of trails with dedicated horse, hiking, and mountain biking trails so everyone has their own place.

While none of the trails would be considered epic it is very pretty and this time of the year should be beautiful with the fall colors.

I've had many great rides there but just heard that they had a pretty substantial wind and rain storm that took down a lot of trees and closed some trails. Does anyone have any info on that?

I haven't heard anything about that recently... We're about 40 min from there. There was a horrific storm in Sept 2008, which caused widespread damage. There have also been several storms this year, but not as bad as in '08. I haven't been there in a couple of months, but haven't heard anything. Most places are pretty good at picking up trees & stuff, though. Hueston Woods really is beautiful, though!

I'll have to check with some of the folks with the Preble or Butler Co. OHC chapters.

I just want to make sure that the trails I've got listed here are correct.

You're right the storm that came through last fall was something! I rode Hueston woods about 3 weeks afterwards and the size of some of the trees that were down was something!

How are the fall colors? With all the rain, in Cincy, this summer they ought to be good.

Small world - You're in Hamilton! I grew up near Darrtown and went to school at Miami. Just moved to Seattle from the eastside of Cincy where I rode a lot here at Eastfork State Park

Small world indeed

We moved to this area last year, from Phoenix, AZ, and absolutely love it. I was hired by AK Steel, so that's why we moved. I am originally from Southern Ontario, Canada, so this really feels like home. We have definitely had a whole lot of rain here this year - poured last night, in fact, and is still drizzling - but the fall colours have been spectacular. We're really enjoying it!

I don't have much chance to trail-ride any more, since we had to lay my older boy to rest at the end of August (In Loving Memory of Dot) and the youngster (his picture is in my avatar) has only just turned three, but we do have some wonderful trails. I'm looking forward to being able to go out again soon!

Enjoy Seattle - the trails must be awesome

Sarah

And I was born in Reading and grew up in Warren County, not far from Milford/Goshen area. I now live about 20 miles west of Wapakoneta...home of Neil Armstrong museum.
