A few pics from my last ride

This is a state park that I ride in a lot. As we don't have very many spots to go.. I was with my cousin and his wife and another friend... My cousin's wife was riding her new mule Paleface...

My friend and her racking horse Country

Some of the trails there

Wow ... looks like a great place to ride. I'm jealous ...

I don't know about that bridge though ... my horses would probably think a troll lives under there and would refuse to cross.

There is a place where we trail ride and it also has a wooden bridge. However, its a swamp we are crossing and usually see a gator. The horses cross it with no problem (they have no choice !!) They have been over it lots of times.

Your trails are gorgous !!!

Pic of our bridge...... About 1/4 mile long.

Beautiful park! My favorite place to ride has several bridges like that too. Only no rails on most of them. Including one way high over the St. Croix river that's also quite long. At least that one has a rail.

I don't think either of my geldings would take that bridge.

Such nice shadey trails. I envy you!

Great pics and I love the bridge you had to cross. Paleface is a pretty mule.

Thanks all It is called St Mary's River State Park, Leonardtown MD I have been riding around there before they opened it up to the public as a park. The trails are nice great for the young ones to learn on. There are several of the bigger bridges with rails an a few narrow ones that you can get around if need be. The only bad thing is that the trails are also used by bicycles and they are tearring up spots. And a lot of roots to deal with now, Use to be a good ye haw trail.. There is another state park about 40 miles north of me that is about the same and they offer horse camping. It's rough camping but water and rest rooms are there..It's called Cedarville State Park. I think the town is Brandywine Md. It would be on the site for Md state parks...

Oh forgot to mention that she just got Paleface and so far she likes her. She really wants a rocky mnt horse...But said she would try her.. I would love to have a good gaited mule...

Where in VA are you? I'm about an hr from the 301 bridge...When you cross the bridge into Md you'll see Rt 234west to NAS Patuxent River that will take you straight to the park...My friend on the grey horse camps there a lot in the cooler weather. The only thing I don't like about Cedarville is that they don't give the LQ's alot of room to manuver. MIne is 28ft and it's tight making some of the turns in. It's one way in and circles around. But I may go up this fall a few times Her hubby said he would help me get it backed in..Still a greenie backer here....

We have an assortment of bridges depending on where I ride. So my horses are very accustomed to bridges.

Some over rivers

Some over boggy areas

Sometimes no bidges, we just have to ford the river.

The horse learn to deal with all of it.

And sometimes a bridge would take all the adventure away,
