Tack Swap - Updated January 2009

You guys are free to organize this kind of thing on the forum. I would suggest the following as guidelines though:

Don't post your full names and addresses -- save that sort of stuff for email. Please also leave prices to emails and PM's also.

Be wary of trading with newer people who haven't posted much.

Don't mail away anything without the understanding that you might not get anything back in return.

Post photos of the goods if possible so that there are no misunderstandings about what's being traded. Please if you can try to keep the photo size down so it's easier to load up the page.

Keep shipping costs in mind --

Have fun with this!

Moderator's Note About Replying Here:

- The Tack Swap is a place where Horsetopians can trade tack with other Horsetopians. It is not a place to post ads of tack you have for sale. Please, use the Horsetopia Classifieds for tack to place ads of items for sale.
**Currently, we are allowing you to also place these types of posts in the regional forum closest to your personal region.**

- Replies should not include: prices, email addresses, personal addresses, or phone numbers. For these details, use the Private Message option to contact the person with the item you are wanting.

- Replies should be in a "Items I Have & Items I Need" format.
Please, post the items you have to trade, with photos if you have them, and then post the items you are willing to trade those items for.

- Remember, buyer and seller beware. Please, be cautious of the people you are trading items with, especially if you do have transactions that involve monetary exchange.

- Make sure that all angles of the trade are discussed fully so misunderstandings can be avoided. Discuss who is expected to pay for shipping, the length of time it will take to ship, which carrier is handling the delivery, etc... If you are to send tack to someone, please, do so in a timely manner after receipt of payment or tack in trade.

- Individual Posting Privileges in this area may be removed if reasonable complaints are filed. While we cannot monitor transactions or prevent fraud, Moderators may choose to disallow members to post in the Tack Swap if there is a reported dispute over a transaction.

- This topic will be edited monthly to keep it up to date. Please, do not post replies more often than 1 every 2 weeks. You are always welcome to edit your replies to reflect changes in items for trade. Replies older than the month prior to the current month will be removed.

Moderators may choose to edit replies to the Tack Swap that do not fit these guidelines. If you have any questions, please, contact a moderator for assistance.

Sergeant's youth show saddle

I have a Sergeant's youth show saddle for sale or trade. It is has a 14 inch equitation seat. It has all the silver just like the adult size show saddles, the only difference is a smaller seat. It has 4 silver corner plates, cantle, pomel, horn cap, and conchos, silver on the keeper pieces for the girth and tie strap, and drop rear billet pieces with silver on them too. The silver is high quality. This saddle is suitable for the local shows or would fit right in at the big AQHA shows as well. It is about 12 years old, but that's a good thing because saddles were made better then than they are now. It doesn't have a name plate on it, but it did come from Sergeant's. A saddle dealer that has been in the business several years told me that Circle Y used to make these saddles then ship them without name plates to Sargents to sell as their "in store brand". (I'm sure he could give the information about when/where they were made and shipped.) This saddle has always been stored in the house or in the trailer and is in very good condition. This saddle is very versatile and will last a youngster their whole youth career..... When we needed a leadline saddle we took the stirrups off and added buddy stirrups - it has a seat that a little one won't easily fall out of, and then when we needed a walk-trot saddle we used pony sized stirrup leathers and youth stirrups (where the fenders would normally be) and that worked and looked great too - I think I still have them, and then when our daughter got bigger we put the fenders back on and used it normally. She's 10 and it still fits her, but we haven't shown in a while and at this time aren't really planning to. It has sat in our spare bedroom for the last year or so. That is why we are selling it.

We are asking *** for it or would trade for a 14 inch youth cowhorse, flatseat cutter, or reining saddle to use everyday. It doesn't need to have silver, but it does need to be a quality saddle and in good shape. Age doesn't matter as long as it's solid and the leather is good. **Please note, we are not wanting the older 14 inch trail type saddle with a flat seat and wide cantle.

Pics coming soon.

Anyone have an inhaler mask for a horse? I'm hoping to find the one that covers one nostril.

I made the mistake of taking a saddle in on trade. I don't know the brand, or anything about it for that matter! It is a synthetic saddle and very lightweight. The person I got it from used it only a couple times as a guest saddle. The seat and stirrups are very heavily padded suede, so it is comfortable for the rider. I would guess 15.5" seat but I don't know for sure. It does show some wear on the fake leather.

*** Will post pictures soon.

Would also trade for quality used skito, thinline, or dixie midnight pad.

Light Driving Harness

Breastplate type driving harness, includes breeching and crupper, a complete harness. Blind bridle plus a good spare and reins. One is a patent leather type. The belly band is too small for current horse. This fit my Arab (now deceased) This is American leather, not India. I'd call it a cob size to fit Arab, small Standardbred, etc. Probably about $50 to mail. ***
