Need Advice On Buying A Western Saddle

I have always ridden english in one form or another. I now have a 16H paint gelding who has been ridden western. I really just want to use him as a trail horse that I can enjoy so I thought I'd get a western saddle to ride him in. I want a used one of good quality, definitely leather and it must be comfortable with a deeper seat. Do they come like that? If so what would be a reasonable price? Would I be better off with an Aussie saddle? They look comfortable but I've never ridden in one.

Is there a tack shop around that you could go to and try different varieties- then you'd be able to tell if you prefer a more traditional western vs an aussie.. prices are going to vary greatly..depends on your area and what not..in my area it seems a good quality used is going to be about 500- 600 dollars.

I would definitely go with an Aussie if you want something comfortable. They are just so comfy.

If you want something that you can use for a little bit of everything though, I'd go with a Circle Y, Billy Cook, or Tucker saddle. They are all really high quality saddles, easy to find used, and make GREAT trail models that are comfy and well made.
