Trailer Cam?

Does anybody use a trailer camera to keep an eye on what's happenin' back in the horse trailer whilst cruising down the road?

I have read some reviews and the wired cams are favored over wireless due to picture reliability and consistency.

If you use a trailer cam and like it or hate it, tell me what to look for. If you have a used one for sale, pm me, or tell me where you purchased yours!

thanks~

I have never even heard of this but I have wondered what the heck my horses were doing sometimes. Sounds like it would be a cool tool to have, I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread to see how they work and how they are liked.

Since I bought a trailer and will be hauling Cleo by herself I will be curious as to how she is doing back there all alone. She is used to having a horse on either side of her in the trailer, so on our maiden voyage I will be nervous wreck. I googled horse trailer cameras and a lot of websites popped up but before I do too much shopping, thought I would ask the HT Technology experts for some opinions.

I've never used one, or know anyone who has, but I was on equine.com yesterday & this ad popped up!

It's a trailer cam. (duh). I was just thinking how cool it was! If you get one let us know how they work! (No matter what kind)

I think there any excellent thing to have.. I personally don't own one right now cause with our stock trailer that we have it has a window in the front so we can see in the rearview mirror what they are doing.. But if and when I get a different trailer I think its a great idea..

There was a post in July asking about trailer cameras:

Trailer Cameras

but not much feedback at that time. Anyone else with info on cameras?

I've never used one but normally just depend on my ears and the seat of my pants to know what they are doing.

If they start stomping or shifting their weight around I normally stop and check it out. It's sort of suprising, even with as large and heavy as my trailer and truck are it's suprising how much you can feel. Granted my guy is pretty good sized as you know.

Just drive like you've got a rotten egg sitting on the dashboard and you don't want it to roll off and break and everyone will be fine.

You might want to make a short test run or three before you venture too far from home since trailering alone is new to Cleo. Even just load her up and drive into town and back. You've got more than one unknown so I'd be extra extra carefull.

I just think Cleo needs a friend, then she won't be alone!

Really though, it's neat, I'm curious now... You know like wondering what your pets are doing at home when you're not there. Let us know what you do!

I had always heard "like you have a cup of coffee on the dash". I like the rotten egg better. Maybe the thought of a rotten egg will slow my husband's corners down

I have never thought about a camera before we go my husband's gelding. He's a pawer. We're working on it, but on the drive home when we bought him, he pawed all the way home. Most horses stop when the trailer starts to move... not him. He will still do it from time to time; I'd sure like to know whether he is simply impatient or in trouble. He does it often enough that if we stopped every time he did it, we'd be along time getting down the road.
