Does this look like a scam? new question added?

Here is a horse trailer on a different sight. Something seems a little off to me. Does this look like a scam to you guys?

http://www.equinehits.com/2006.merho....4.horse~27622

And I haven't contacted them yet..

With the price, and age of the trailer I was thinking scam or a heck of a good deal..

Pretty suspicious. One, look at MR GORDON's phone number. doesnt look legit.

Beware of this being a $8000 down you take over the payments deal too.

If it looks too good to be true.........blah blah blah.

I don't even bother with that website anymore. I got tired of 90% of everything being either a response by a scammer or an ad put up by either a scammer or bored kid.

Have you checked local places like Arena Trailer Sales, Herzog's Trailers or other ones up by you?

I know the two near me in Brook Park (Herzog's and Brook) have had some pretty dang nice trailers that have been just sitting in their lots forever.

Don't waste your time. No phone numbers start with the prefix 000.

well I sent an email.. I'll post the reply if I even get one. I seen the phone number wasn't right to start with but we'll see what he says..

Beth so far we haven't gone and looked at any trailers in person. I thought it would be nice if I had an idea of what prices were going for. Although I highly doubt that this trailer is only 8000.00 but we'll see..

oh and thanks for the heads up that this site has lots of scammers.. Didn't realize that..

If nothing else maybe we can have fun with a scammer..

when i was scouring the earth for a trailer i came across a beautiful trailer like that one for $6500. yipes! sent the guy an email but never got a response.
why do people get kicks out of posting crap like that anyway? i dont get it.

keep looking, with fall coming i would bet there will be some bargains.

maybe you should just take a road trip to missouri and we can go trailer shopping. i fancy myself an expert these days.

Well if you find a trailer in good condition like what you bought and in a three horse let me know for similar to what you paid let me. I'd be going on a road trip..

somebody yesterday told me they have a three horse slant with living quarters for $2500. now, i have found out that "living quarters" means a lot of different things to different people. some think a bed is living quarters.
i will find her and ask. might take me a few days but i will let you know.

Definitely a scam. Even in this market, a trailer wouldn't go for that and have that suspicious number listed.

Good luck finding a trailer

Response from owner

here is the email that I received back.. Everything actually looked ok with it until he said free delivery.
Hi,
I still have the horse trailer, the price is $8ooo,I am located in Fargo,North Dakota and the trailer is here too.I'm selling because our daughter Monica rode for 9 years but is now a senior in High School and focusing on college. She lost interest in the horse and it is killing us to sell the trailer. If you want to purchase it let me know so we can talk about this. What I can tell you now is that the price includes shipping and handling to your location.Feel free to email if you need to know anything.

Thanks !
MARK

hmm..thats a hard one to say if its really in the condition he advertises it in, based on description, the picture is out of a magazine/online website, so dont trust those pics ....but only way to know if he's a real "mark", take a trip to see what it really looks like...

- and see how it goes....OR you can ask to meet half way, so you dont waste too much gas/time..either way, try to see the trailer in person..

Have fun on the trip to see the trailer, and I hope you come back happy with a trailer hitched to your truck

Good Luck.

But the price is almost 1/3rd of what it should be. Merhows are more expensive than Featherlites or Exiss or any other similar brand.
