Cashel Soft Saddle
I just recently purchased mine and I love it. I have been looking at them since they came out. I use it on my stallion and 2 1/2 filly. Both love it. I am able to get my stallion to pay more attention to what I am telling him to do with my body.
There are two things to watch for. My horses are AQHA and quite stocky, especially my stallion. You are going to need a breast collar. It does have a tendency when cantering to want to slide back. Also, being new it is still forming to my horses and since my stallion is very broad and it will slip when I get on and off, so I just get on the fence and climb on--he just waits for me. The saddle does not slip on my filly at all when I get off, I haven't tried to use the stirrups to climb on, I just use the water trough. She is young and will fill out a lot more than she is now--which is actually pretty broad for 2 1/2. She is just extremely tall--approximately 16 hands--makes my 15.1 hand mare look like a pony when I am on her, that is why I haven't tried to climb up yet. Probably will try the next time. I just started training her under saddle.
I really like how the horse can feel your body movements as though you are riding bareback and not have to worry about slipping around if they make any quick moves. I have dropped my stirrups and ride with it and I don't slip around like I would if I was bareback. I did ride another horse that bucked and I did not feel her buck in this saddle. I only knew she bucked because her tail swished by my ear and the owner saw it. I hope this helped. Oh, I am riding more as well because the saddle is so easy to work with and is light. I usually saddle up near their pens, but sometimes I take them up to the arena and would rather ride bareback--which is fun.
