Price of Saddle?? PICS

I have this saddle that I need to sell:

it is a really great saddle and i love riding in it but it is just a bit too narrow for the QH I have right now. Its in used but really nice condition, a few scuffs here and there but nothing serious. I have had it for about 4 years now and its been kept in an indoor area, has no mold, always was covered, etc. Its a 15 in seat size and I'm not sure about much else as far as fitting goes, it could be a narrow saddle but this QH is the only one it does not fit and he's a big boy so its probably a medium. There is no stamp so it must be a no-name saddle? My questions are
1. how much should I ask for it?
2.Do you like the pictures with the rope or not for the ad??
3;And when I go to buy my new saddle what should i look for as far as fitting the horse correctly with the width of the saddle? I have never bought one with out sitting in it first to putting it on the horse...what do you all think about that good idea, ok, bad, ??? any help would be great! This is the one I have picked out to buy: Let me know what you think!

Have you tried using a thinner pad? I would buy your saddle before i'd buy the one on ebay. Buffalo used to put out a good saddle but for the past 10 years or so one is seeing mostly saddles like these. From what I can see the angle of the bars would maybe fit a horse built like a table with almost no withers. I've heard complaints of these saddles pinching the horses. The rawhide may be very thin and not withstand any abrasion. Wrapping the horn does not make it a roper and I don't think the seller should be advertising it as such. The rope is a nice touch but this is strictly a trail saddle and someone might think it's a roper when it's not.

Dont buy that saddle on Ebay! Buffalo's are very cheaply made saddles. I agree with slim, The rope does look good, but your saddle isnt a roping saddle. For a price I would say start at $250.

It's a nice looking little saddle. But unfortunately because it's not fancy or shiny or name brand it's not worth much money wise. I'd guesstimate around here that you might be able to get $200 for it, but realistically I'd say about $150.

I'm not a fan of Buffalo Saddles. Cheaply made and definitely not made to last. Like Slim said the trees tend to be flat and wide and not fit the average horse.

Not sure where you're located but Simons in Cannon Falls sells RS saddles. They're a good lower cost alternative to a Circle Y or similar saddle.

Saddles with 15" seats are getting harder to sell because people seem to need 16's or 17's. Bars appear to be semi qh or the old "regular".

WOW

WOW I had no idea that the buffalo saddles were not good quality, I guess the rawhide got me excited but RS saddles is actually only 30 min away from me and I called them this morning and so I'm on my way to see what they have!! I am going to bring out this saddle tonight and try it on my QH again with a thinner pad and see if the bulkyness of the previously used pad was more of the problem. Thanks so much guys!! And its definately a NO GO on the Buffalo saddle!!

That looks exactly like the saddle that's been sitting in my mom's linen closet for years... It's in excellent condition, too.. It was my first western saddle... I've been pondering selling it, cause lord only knows if I'd still fit in it or not..

Well I actually like Buffalo Saddlery saddles--I have two and have had others and the ones i have used the quality seemed very good--especially for the price. I have one semi quarter that fits our Pally Paint mare great!! ANd then a full quarter that fits my Percheron/Morgan great!! Anyway both are extremely comfortable and are really holding up great.

Nice saddle --don't know how much you can get for it I would say about $200

Selling it to an individual you will get more for it. We go to several sales and saddles very, very similar to this one is selling around $100. You are missing a stirrup hobble, if you can put that back on.

I have seen some older youth saddles made by Buffalo and liked them, they were very good quality, but the ones made in the last 20 years have gotten much cheaper made.

Your saddle has a good Ralide tree in it. The quality of the leather seems fairly good. The dye isn't the best but that can be improved on somewhat. That is the problem with the newer surface finishes. Stirrup hobbles are cheap, you don't need the more expensive wide ones, just a little 1/2" strap or little nylon dog collars. They stop the stirrup from flipping around in the leathers. You don't need to use a pad any thicker than 1". I've used thicker but on some horses it causes the the saddle to float.
