Question Mohair or Synthetic blend, breast collars???

So I was on Ebay just browsing and came across the really neat looking Breast collar but do you think I can find one cheap? NO, shipping is the killer part

I have a supplier looking for this Billy Cook one. I like this one because it has leather where it attaches to the girth. The Ebay seller had it listed for $95 plus shipping

This one I found on a search for Mohair Breast collars. Suppose to be hand made but I'm not sure I like the string at the girth connector part. It was $59 plus shipping

Does anyone have a string breast collar? if so how do you like it compaired to the leather ones?

I just think they would be better as they would move with the horse and sit more natural then the leather. It would be nice to hear opinions before I spend that kind of money on something that's horrible

I like the first one with the leather better. I don't have one either, but I think it would be great.

I prefer leather but that's just me. But I think you should be able to find them cheaper. Or maybe we just got a good deal a LONG time ago. let me look around and I'll post later

I'm sorry. I just sold one a couple of weeks ago that I picked up used. It was quite nice.

If you plan on riding in any kind of brush or weeds you don't want a string breastcollar. It will collect every little seed and burr.

I just switched mine over to a leather pulling style (got it for my b-day )

My quick search found them up to $180 so I guess it's a good deal.

I'd also ask if the rings are chrome plated as they rust. Not much point in paying for mohair if the rings rust.

Oh, Bummer That's funny I've been looking at them for over 1 week. I even read through many pages of the HT Tack swap.

I don't plan on doing any trail riding as Sugar Hates trails, not a good trail horse.

DoBeSassy, That's that problem, The one wioth the leather is very pricey.

The BC ones are Stainless steel and I believe the ad for the other ones were the same. There was another site but they were cheaper and came with Nickle Plated rings.

Oh, and Sassy, They were something that was popular many years ago, like when I was 10. My parents friend had one and I thought it was the ungliest thing going. I guess age changes taste

I was suppose to go up to Kitchener area Thursday but plans changed. I still have my leather Breast Collar and I was going to see if the Menonites could make one cheaper if I supply the leather pieces. They make the string girths so I'm assuming they could rig one of the Breast Plates up? I think their Mohair girths sold for $50 and their Rayon blend was $20

I just checked out the Auction for the BC one and it went for $103 Canadian plus shipping.
