Advice on Billy Cook Roping Saddle PLEASE!!

I found this saddle, and I am in desprate need of one... Please tell me what you all think, also how much should a saddle like this one cost so I can get an idea if it is over priced or not...

It is used, but has no major defaults, been used for regular ridding and a little bit of roping. It also comes with a NRS Mohair cinch, and leather back girth... (I have never heard of the Mohair before??)

Thanks

And jerri, no need to comment I know what you think!

Not really sure what it is actually worth, but Billy Cooks are great saddles and pricey even when used. I have buddys that buy them every chance they get on ebay (when they are in the $800 or less range) used.

I would say a good price for that is $500-$600 I mean it has the normal wear and tear of a saddle. and Billy cooks are nice saddles.

We have on left that Pat won roping - they usually go for $1000 and up in good condition - but it depends on wether they are the older signed ones or the newer ones..

I have a billy cook Barrel saddle that retailed for 1650.00. Billy Cook saddles are really good saddles. I agree with Thunderz Gurlz.

I have that exact saddle and love it. I paid $600 for it about 3 years ago at a horse sale tack auction and felt like I got quite a deal. Not a big fan of the string cinches but lots of people swear by them. I have had them pinch a few horse, but maybe that's because they weren't mohair .

Well the offer for me is 550 dollars, includes saddle, front girth, back cinch, and shipping....

Think it's a decent deal?

And the more important question.... do you think it will look good on my new guy!

Billy Cooks are very nice saddles. The one pictured, once oiled up will make you fine saddle. I would price a saddle like that, as is, around $500-$700.

Why thank ya!

I would like to try to rope someday, so I figure that I should be looking for a roping saddle, I really like the billy cooks too.... I just want to make sure this sounded like a good deal and I wasn't going to pay way to much for a saddle...

Not a bad saddle. Being a rope it will be better made and stronger. I find that with the cinch rings set that far forward some horses get sore near the elbows. Since they are attached to the tree, a saddlemaker can put them in a better position for you.
