saddle price?

I was looking at some saddles, and I want a barrel saddle....I found a almost new billy cook barrel saddle for 425 dollars from a guy down the road, I was thinking it would be better to get a saddle that was already broke in, but do you think for that price it would be worth getting and just breaking it in myself?

Well if the saddle is in good shape I would go for it. Billy Cook saddles are not cheap and that is more half off not a bad deal.

That is a good deal. I bought a 1960 something billy cook for $600. It was the most comfortable saddle I ever owned!!

Make sure it's really a Billy Cook for that price. You'd be hard pressed to find a real BC for less than $800. I've seen lots of seconds sold as the real thing for $4-500 and they tend to fall apart after a year of use. Check the stiching, fenders for thin spots, etc. I had one that the fender almost streched out far enough to break right in the middle after only a year of use. Took it to a friend who deals and they found the marking that the factory puts on them when they're deemed not worthy of the Billy Cook concho. Yes, I learned my lesson.

If it's a real Billy Cook you are stealing it. Both my girls (wife and daughter) ride Billy Cook saddles and the "cheep" one was close to $800 used...
My Daughter's is a barrel saddle and he absolutely loves it
