My Olympic Dream...

Sorry everyone I feel like I have to get this out....

This may sound completely silly but it's my dream, my own dream. Lets start at the beginning..... I came from a family ( 3 brothers) with no money but rich with love so all I had was just myself running in track and played basketball in highschool. ALWAYS had a love for horses. So coming from a somewhat poor/comfortable, lower middle class family, we never had money for lessons. I've had to support myself since I graduated highschool so I have had to work fulltime to get by. Now I am Blessed with a boyfriend who Is paying the bills so I can go to school. Right now I am in school full time and work part time. But I still have my dream.... Haven't gotten far only a few lessons that were givin to me for free and Im so grateful for. I still dont have any money for lessons all I have to offer Is Time, Dedication, and Heart. I dont want to sound....Conceded??? But I am a very comfortable confident rider. Natural Balanced Rider. Hopefully In two years after I get my degree I will make enough money to get lots of lessons Even though I am 26 now Will I be to old to go to the Olympics I would hope Not. I just Prey I met someone that will show me the foot steps to the Olympics.

Negitive remarks are welcome!!!! I am a positive person and people who tell me what I can't do just makes me work harder.

Thanks for Reading

That is a wonderful dream! I hope and pray that you are able to get there. You are right, it will take lots of hard work and dedication, but it sounds like you have the determination to get there!
One of the great things about the equestrian events in the Olympics is that age really doesn't matter, there are people in their 50's and 60's competing along with everyone else.
Good luck! And maybe we will see you there, Anna (my 9 yr old daughter) has plans to go to the Olympics also. She is shooting for 2020.

Thats a nice to dream to have and like Carri said theres lots of people alot older then you that show in the olympics.
Who knows maybe someday you'll get to live your dream but it will take a lot of money, lessons, and determination on your part to reach that dream as well as lots of sweat, tears, and let downs.

I have alot of big dreams and who knows maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to live one of those dreams but I know alot of those dreams are just that and will never be anything more.

I think it's great to have ambitious dreams. I highly recommend getting a working student position with a top trainer in your discipline. It's how many top riders have gotten their start!

The eventer for the US team, canīt remember her name right now, was not rich. She bought her eventing horse for something like 2500 dollars, and works as a fire fighter. She said she was inspired by watching princess Anne ride in the Olympics. Unfortunately, she fell off during the cross country and was eliminated, but she got there. Most of the riders were in their 30īs and 40īs, so age does not seem to matter to much. Does not seem like an implausible dream to me.

I am right behind you! Heck I dont even own my own horse yet- I have always had to borrow, I can from the same situation as you- I once met a great friend of mine , who let me "exercise" her horses as she was ill and couldnt do it anymore- for 4 years I learned to ride from her on her old school horse - (appendix,) I still remember the moment I placed my feet and reins in the right place and that beautiful horse did the most beautiful side pass( not really a side pass, but cant remember the correct name for it at this moment- it was at a angle but in a forward motion) at a trot I have even seen. It was that moment that I knew someday I was going to ride dressage in the olympics- I dont care - some day me too. Heck maybe well see each other there- who knows !!

Carri I want to do 3- day eventing. And I have had a lesson here and there in the past couple of years that were show jumping lessons but last Friday (the 8th) my friend and co-worker Beth gave me my first Dressage lesson and I am 100% hooked now!!!! I loved it before and that lesson made my feelings turn to stone about Dressage. There's no turning back now!!!!!
