Fun Show!! (and was it!!)
One of our friends called last week to see how "the midget," as he refers to my daughter, was doing with her horse. Not real well, but the horse is in full training at a big show barn. Big deal for me - I've never had one in training before. So he invited the kiddo to come to a fun show up where he was (sponsored by another big show barn) and come use his horse. She was soooo excited. We went and got her mounted. They had games, more games, and misc. BS. She was having a great time. So great that I went and got her horse so I could ride, too. The kiddo came out with seven ribbons, which was a tremendous time for her: sixth in walking keyhole, fourth in groom's race, second in letter carrier's relay, etc. etc. etc. I think she got one of every color.
Her horse and I, without all of our equipment, got a 1, 2, and 3. Her horse's trainer had heard I pulled him out and asked how we did. Great! 1, 2, 3! Super! What was the first in? Simon Says. She giggled. Ok - what about the second? Oh - that was the unsaddling race - ride down at speed, unsaddle, mount bareback and run back. Oh, my God. Where did you get the third? Oh, that was musical feed sacks. He really did seem to like the music, though....
She burst out laughing and told me that NOBODY had given her that kind of results from a show, EVER, and that if the horse had put up with all of that nonsense and was responsive without being stupid, she felt like her job was done.
She is keeping him to work him over fences for a bit, then I'll bring him home. What a FUN outing!!!
