Got my first blue ribbon!

You all will laugh at me when I tell you what I talked them into. I wanted to ride and compete in the speed show but the class was for 20 and over. Well at 50 I am NO competion for those youngsters. So, I ask if we can have an older class of riders. The lady said "we do" the 20 and up riders. I came back with the fact I am not up to riding against these younger folk and would they consider a "More mature Class"? You know, maybe 40 and up? She thought a minute and said "why not"? I said "Yippee"
Our first class had 3 ladies and all over 45.
We ran barrels and poles and all the other patterns.(My favorite are the poles) Now I have a pleasure horse and up against 2 other speed horses. These horses move out! My Rose says, "Do what and how Fast"? I had the time of my life. My only hope to get better than last place was for them to DQ. I always say sometimes accuracy is better than speed if you are always missing your mark. Me and Rose were accurate! Well I had one second place and 1 first place. They were because of the others DQing so does that count? Sure was fun! Wished I would have had the courage to ask the question early season. Shows are over for this year Me and Rose will be ready for next spring! Hey, you know, It was a three generation show as I and my daughter and three granddaughters all showed there together. Stormy

Wow, that's awesome sounds fun! Not bad at all for a pleasure horse. Too bad show season is over for you, but there's always next year.

Stormy!!!! Congratulations!

This is for you:

I think that is a fantastic idea to have a class for riders over 40. Different challenges at different ages, aren't there? And who cares if the other riders DQ'd? In my book anyone brave enough to show deserves a blue ribbon.

Any blue ribbon is a good blue ribbon. You are a winner for just going out there and competing! Congratulations for a job well done!

WAY TO GO STORMY!!!!!

Sounds like you and Rose are really doing great, further proof that Pasos can compete in the speed events. I am determined to get my mare trained to run poles, that is what I really would like to do. And I would have to be in the over 40 class too. I'm determined to have the childhood now that I didn't have then.

Hey! I am SOO Inspired!

I finally got Gerald to move the partially finished horse 'barn' and cultivator from the middle of the pasture where I am setting up barrels and poles and other games. I've NEVER ever done that kind of thing before. I am SOOOO excited.

I don't know if I could get to where I could complete, maybe in the Clearwater Fair, they seem to be REALLY nice there. This year there were a couple of Grandmas and Grandpas and you could tell they were having the time of their lives.

My favorite is the PeeWee class, this little boy was on his Shetland pony and he just sat there while the pony did all the work. It was the funniest thing in the world. I laughed so hard I cried. Gerald and I both fell in love with that pony. He must have been the one to teach ALL the grandkids because that little boy's older brother and sister were competing on different horses. Ya gott love those little ponies.

 Way to go Stormy, I'm so happy for you. I don't do shows at all, so in my book a blue ribbon is a blue ribbon no matter what-you earned it! Stinks that show season is over now, but you'll always got next year to look forward to.

Congrats! Think of the season ending this way. Now that you know they'll have those classes just practice a ton and most likly you'll win more next season.

got my first blue ribbon

Hey I am also so proud of my daughter and grandaughters efforts at the shows. Cynthia(13 yrs), on Rose, was third high point earner in her division and it was a large class. She recieved and very nice rosette ribbon. Gwen (9 years), rode her pony, was second high point earner in her class and again was a large class of kids. Then little Autumn Rose (6yrs) rode her big horse and came in 7th in her class out of 10. She was so proud! Any ribbon to her is a fine ribbon We were all proud of these girls.
THEN.... my daughter, who just turned 30 , took first place high point earner in her class of riders. Yippee for Holly!! There was some stiff competition there. Boy, could they move out. Kind of scarey to me! I just held my breath until they got home safe and thru the gate.
Go version! I encourage each of you to try this no matter what your age. What a rush!
Yes, the Paso makes a fine horse no matter what you use them for.
We all did practice atleast once per week and sometimes twice.
Next year we have more riders for the 40 and up class.
Hey Tiggy, I like the Jack Benny class! Sounds better. We called ours the geriatric class
Wish it wasnt over Stormy
