Showmanship at Halter

I hope ya'll can help me!!

I got the oppurtunity for a free lease of a horse to show in halter this summer/fall. I definately want to do it, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit more about it. I've never shown before, and want to know the rules, tips, and how to do it. Any advice would help!!
Thanks!

Kelly

Are you doing actual showmanship or just halter?

pretty much how I learned was by watching other people.

You might want to go to a couple of shows and just watch some people and see what techniques they use and which people seem to place more when they do certain things.

The world of showing is tough and dont get disappointed if you dont win the first classd that you go in, it all comes with time!

Hopefully you're showing halter and not showmanship, although if you do one you CAN do the other, but WHY would you want to?? Just kidding, it's just that I hate showmanship because it's so picky.... halter is so much easier because it's judged on your horse's conformation and not necessarily how you present them. So if your horse acts up it's no biggie, lol!!

I am, however, far from expert when it comes to the actual showing part of halter, in fact asked a very similar question to this not long ago, so I can't give you any advice. But I'll be interested in seeing what others have to say too!!

Yeah a newbie at showmanship!
Showmanship is my favorite.! Halter is so boring but, i like it too!
Which are you planning on showing? I would suggest showmanship. Showmanship gives you a chance to present yourself too! Making your horse and you a team. Halter class is great for young horses. Does your horse have any experience?
Before i start anything
Just clearing up, ) halter doesnt suck).
I show it every year, and i win my futurites.
Showmanship is just you and the horse working together, like dancers.
You need a bond with your horse before you start. Have you ever shown halter or showmahip. Ever?
Well if you have any questions please PLEASE ask. This is something i acually Know SOMETHING about.
Hope to hear from you
