I know nothing about showing, can you help?

Hello all. I have a question. I have a 20 yr old AQHA mare that suffers from a shoulder injury. I was wondering if I could show her with that injury. She limps sometimes, but is a very pretty girl. She has papers back to King and Poco Bueno. I was wondering about the halter class.

I want to use her for something...you know, make her earn her keep . I carry a lot of show tack in my store, but don't use it, and it is very pretty! I love dressing my horses up, :walk: and since I became pregnant, I am looking for a horse activity that I can participate in, because I can't ride for now. :sad1:

If she limps-she would probably be excused from the ring

What Toveromom says is unfortunate but true. Even if your horse is not in pain, if they show a lameness, it will be picked up on right away, and not only will you have to worry about being excused from the ring, THEN you get to hear what snobby show people say about you riding a lame horse behind your back

Sorry, not trying to turn you OFF from showing-- I love it!-- but it's happened to people I know. And even after the girl was picked apart by people in the stands next to me, they couldn't point out specifically why they thought the horse was lame People suck sometimes, lol!

Does she always limp or can you give her bute or something? If you just want to show something, I think you would want to do Showmanship. Can you give bute to a horse in showmanship? I haven't gone near a halter ring!

I do bute her, but it seems not to help. I bought her and she was fine....or so I thought, then we get her home, and she's lame. Contacted seller, and he doesn't want her back. Geez...I wonder why? Anyway, she can't help it, and she hurts, but I just thought I would try something.
