In Need of Show names for my stud colt.

I need a name. All I know is that he is 4 months old, quarter horse and dun. I don't know his pedigree or his dam and sire. But I still need a name. Heres a picture of my boy:

Now I thought of only one. And that was: Itza Dun Deal. But I need 2 more names please help

Yes I want to keep him a stud, he is very sweet but then again that could only be because of his age but he isn't fisty or call to my mares. He is housed with my 17h gelding so he is learning respect and everything else from him(and from me of course).

He is registable in at least 4 different registeries including AQHA.

What are you planning on showing him in? That would influence the choice of name.

I'm thinking of an all around mount but mainly halter, WP, Showmanship, and trail.

I suspect every expression using the word "dun" as been used. There's an Ima Dun Deal, Heza Dun Deal, Dun Lookin, etc, etc. You'll have better luck if you add your initials as in AB's Itza Dun Deal. Once you have his papers you may want to include something from his background.

I didn't realize he was registerable

Normally you try to choose something good from his parent's background to use. When will you know his sire and dam's name?

If you want to use "dunit" in another name and he'll be an all around horse, how about "Dunit All Around"? That's not taken yet with AQHA.

If you can have him reg. then you must know his dam/sire name, they should be on the papers?? ..

Thats what I was thinking...if hes registerable in 4 different registerations...then you have to know who his parents are how else would you get him registered?

They will consider him hardship. Knowing sire and dam isn't neccesary. If you are lucky to know them great! I registered my gelding with no knowlege of his parents they just leave the sire and dam blank or write unknown. So I don't need sire or dam to register him.

Your colt won't be able to be "hardship" registered with AQHA because the rule book states:

203. TO OBTAIN A NUMBERED CERTIFICATE. Except as otherwise
limited on proper compliance with the rules and regulations
48 of AQHA, a stallion, mare, gelding or spayed mare may be registered
in the Numbered section of the Stud Book that:
(a) Has a numbered American Quarter Horse sire and a numbered
American Quarter Horse dam. Such horse, when registered,
shall receive a registration number.

Later on it says one parent can be a registered Thoroughbred, for an appendix registration, but still, the parents have to be registered in order to register the foal.

If I am mistaken, please tell me the rule number that allows an unknown colt out of an unknown mare and stallion to be registered with the AQHA?

Which other registeries (you mentioned four) were you thinking about? Maybe it's one of them that offers hardship registration.

Sorry but echoing what has already been said.Without BOTH sire & dam Registered with AQHA with DNA on file this colt will not qualify with AQHA for Registry. Most of the other MAJOR registries also have strict requirements for registration eligibility as well.Don't know what registries he would actualy be eligible?? i'm sure there may be one but a less common

Ditto this.

the colt could be registered under American quarter PONY association...with out knowledge of dam or sire...but you wouldn't be able to register him til later on because qp's can only be so tall...if you were to try the buckskin color registry...they are a wee bit picky also...sooo....I guess I join in with the others too...what other registries are you looking at?
