Our club is putting on a fun fuzzy-wuzzy mini show on September 30. It's located in Glenwood City, wi, which is about 1/2 hour from the WI/MN border (by the twin cities).

Anyone who would like to show a mini is more than welcome. We have more trained minis than we have handlers, so there's always an extra

ETA: here's the show bill http://www.miniatureequine.com/imhc/...-07classes.pdf

Is that by weight or count?
I sure wish I could, maybe in a couple years, huh?

LOL in both! We have 11 minis over here now (I think, at least), and of those only two aren't trained to drive or jump because they are weanlings! And it's only my two sisters and stepsister that show, so there's no possible way that all of them could get shown.

Oh man, how could I forget about champ show?? Silly me... I guess that shows how many shows we made it to this year.

Beth, are you competing at champ show?

Umm, no. That would imply that I had actually been to a horse show this summer.

I did go to one last March just for fun. Wait, I think I did qualify for one class.

Yep, keyhole. Think I should go down for one class??

Naw, I'll pass.

At $60 (or more?) for a stall, $30 to late enter the classe, plus gas, food and all the other good stuff.

Besides, I'd have to find a different farrier, he always holds his customer appreciation trail ride that weekend. Much more fun that sitting around waiting all day long for one single class that takes less than 20 seconds.

Totally understand.. I wouldn't go either just for one class. Oh wait I have qualified for a few classes and still didn't go. Don't blame you one bit.

I think we made it to champ show only two years, although we qualified more years than we went. Best I did was 19th with Peppy in pole weaving the first year. It was exhilarating! My first time at champ show, and being in the most competitive class, the intermediates. Also what made it better was my time was in the mid 12's... fastest peppy had ever run poles! We were clicking so well that day, especially considering the best he had ever run before was low 13's (maybe like 13.1?). I was still in the top 10 for like 3/4 of the class, but the last (mainly late-entries) came and I fell more and more. In all the other classes we were probably in the top 1/3, and it doesn't sound like much, but to place 25-30th in classes of 90+ it still was pretty sweet, especially since I trained him all myself and he really isn't built for games... being 16 hands, fairly stocky, and having a really long back. He has a difficult time getting underneath himself and his heaves are slowing him down now, but he had so much heart it was insane... he's taken his share of barrels running on his knees and never skipped a beat, never slipped or fell no matter what the arena conditions. And to think we bought him for $125 and has never had any lameness issues, club foot and all

I didn't know you didn't show much this year, Beth. Are you kinda getting out of the competitive world?

And PVF, why will you be at the fairgrounds... just watching?

I will be at the fairgrounds that weekend for the 4-H state dog show. My daughter will be competing in 2 classes.

I went down for three years in a row when I had Murphy, then I sold him and bought Katie (the mare you had a chance to buy), couldn't stand her pissy marish attitude so I sold her and started Kitty (the mare I ride now) on games. She just isn't into the whole thing, she's great on barrels and keyhole but hates poles with a passion and doesn't jump reliably in JF8. So I haven't been since. I did show Kitty for two full years but she wasn't really into it so it was hard to have fun.
Dixie was supposed to be my next barrel horse and she was going very well but then she cut a ligament in her front left so she's a broody now.
Her yearling half sister is my next hopeful. Unless I get off my lazy butt and start riding Sonny.

On Murphy unless I knocked I was always in the top 25, not bad for a grade paint/arab cross! His best ever was 14th in poles and 12th in keyhole. The 12th hurt! I was in until the last 3 riders that knocked me out.

I bet 12th would be pretty darn tough. It always seems like half of the last 10 or so riders (normally the ones that sign up late) end up in like the top 15.

You should start riding Sonny! I'm a ways off to going to champ show, but maybe in 2 years if my blood condition goes away I'll be there...

This one is also in the Trail Riding section but it's officially been announced.

October 7th 21st Annual McVay Ranch ride hosted by my neighbor

We're located in Mora, MN

Ride leaves his driveway at 11am and we ride for 4-6 hours or so with a potluck afterwards.

PM me for directions if you're interested.
