Saddleonline.com

Hi, I am thinking of buying a saddle from saddleonline.com. Has anybody had any experince with them? I have been talking to them, and they seem very friendly, but what are the saddles like? They seem to be priced dirt cheap, how long do the saddles hold up?

When your looking for a western saddle one of the first things you want to remember is that you should have a flex tree or a wood tree with bull hide covering or a wood tree that is coverd by fiberglass. These trees will flex with your horse and make a better fit. Many times you will find the cheeper saddles have rallide trees they are not flexable at all. Never buy a synthetic saddle. They are the worst for your horses back.

Arab saddles have the widest bars, then Full QH then half QH and then standard bars. Most people thing Full QH is the largest but that is not the case. Some companies offer the option of trying the saddle on your horse before you buy. If you get that option Put the saddle on your horse, with the pad you plan to use. Cinch it up. Then take your hand and run it under the saddle feel for pinch spots.
Go online look for info on saddle fit. Usually off the rack saddles will come with a 5 year warrenty and all have the same type of tree there is no custom fit there but you can pick one that is better for your horse and you can get the flexable tree too.
I went to the horse EXPO at MSU a couple years back and the woman from this place www.west20.com (click services) did a class on saddle fitting. You might contact them. I bet they would answer questions. You will find that the saddle will cost more but it will last longer too. I have never purchased from them but it cant hurt to call them.

Remember when buying a saddle western or English you get what you pay for.

Very very cheap. You are better off finding a good used one somewhere. I bought one from them as my first saddle and it was the most uncomfortable thing ever! On a good note though when I sold it at an auction I made almost all of my money back!

I bought a western saddle from them a few years ago. It was nothing but junk and parts were missing. I ordered a package (saddle, bridle, cinch, blanket, etc.) and most of the stuff was missing. I emailed and called and I never heard back from them. However, I had ordered items (headstall & reins) from them before and never had a problem. The quality wasn't bad for the price and the shipping was very quick.

I saw this on Ebay, and I thought of you. It looks well used but still serviceable.
