Anyone Ever Use Hooflex Conditioner from Absorbine?

Has anyone ever used this product, and if so, were the results good or bad? My gelding is starting to get surface splits on his front hooves, and I was going to use this on his feet.

I use & have used a product called Molliementum. Its awesome stuff & my horses hooves where chipping off to almost nubs & it brought them back. Plus we took in a 22 yr TB that had always had shoes on & his hooves where crumbling away to nothing. It was sooooooooooooooooo bad. Within 2 months of using that product plus a smart pak hoof supplement, he was back to new hooves & no need for shoes.

Where do you get the product Molliementum? I googled it, and did not find anything?

Anyone else ever used Hooflex?

I use hooflex.............It is an oldy but a goody. It works well to "grease" the feet and help them hold their moisture. It is an excellent all around hoof conditioner.

Great! My gelding is not bad yet, but he has a tad of draft in him, and those large feet 1 exterior crack was enough for me to purchase the Hooflex! I'm going to start using it tonight. How much do you use it? Daily, couple times a week, etc...?

I get it from Big R, but should be at most feed & tractor sites. If you want I could search online and see if its available. You can see the smart paks for supps at www.smartpakequine.com they have many good supps for hoofs that are fair priced. Plus you get a free plastic containor with your first order. Let us know if your hoof stuff works out. Wishing you luck.

I have used Hooflex and had good results with it. Funny I found this subject. I just had the boys trimmed this weekend and the farrier told me to switch from using Pine Tar to something that would help add moisture now instead of just holding it in. I had Hooflex and Hoof Saver in the tack shed. He said either would work fine.

I have used it many moons ago. I now use Farnam Rainmaker. It works well on my one TB mare whose feet tend to crack and chip. If her feet are really dry I use it every few days.

I put Hooflex on my guy last night, and will probably put it on 2x per week. His feet by NO means are bad at all, but just want to stay ahead of the game Ideally I do not want shoes on, especially not until I really start jumping him, which will probably be next summer

I use Hooflex. I apply it every day in the summer when things are really dry here, and in the winter, I just put it on when it has been dry.

I use it as well and it does help when weather creates very dry conditions.

It doesnt make the feet too soft if you use it everyday during the summer? I just want to make sure I'm not using too much, or too little

I saw an articel in the horse journal that to use Pine Tar to draw moisture from a hoof .... Rainmaker contains Pine Tar ...... I don't see how they sell it as a moisturizer. I did use Rainmaker until I saw that article.

BarnBum, according to my farrier and vet, Pine Tar is used to maintain the moisture in a hoof. It neither adds moisture nor takes it away. I'm not saying that is the truth of the matter, just saying that is what they both told me.

Pine tar is just one of the ingredients. I used to make a home made concoction years ago that had pine tar, lard and reducine in it. Worked well but stinks up the house.
I've been around horses for over 40 years, I wouldn't use a product if I didn't see positive results.

Hooflex

Yes-I used to use it...not anymore though. BearCat is WAAAAY better. It doesn't look so appealing and you won't want to get it on your hands but it's pretty good at holding in moisture. My TB has feet that crack after 1 week of getting trimmed up so I always use Bear Cat.

I've used Hooflex regularly on my mare's hooves over the three and a half months I've had her and there's a big improvement. I use it three to four times per week since it is so dry here in SoCal.
