Equispot Fly Control

http://www.horse.com/Pest-Control/Fl...pot-BUL66.html

- Product Info -
Manufacturer: Farnam
Model Name: Equispot
Product Type/Product purpose: Fly repellent for horses
Price and Purchase info: $13.00 local tack store, $10.00 online

- Product Description -
Pros: Works better then putting fly spray on every day. Fast and easy to use, and relativly cheap. Also easy to find.

Cons: Repells most flys, does not keep 100% of the flys off. Horses that have sensative skin get a little irritated by it the first day. Hard to put on the poll. Need to put it on both sides of legs, hindquaters, poll, etc for good coverage. *Edit* Does not seem to work for very long.

Would you recommend this to a friend?: ...Maybe

Other comments: It works considering that it is not a large amount. One of my horses has sensitive skin and it did irritate him a little bit, but it got better. Also, horses need to get used to you putting it on, the first time I did it on my 3 they all didn't stand still and wanted to check it out.

Overall Product rating: (out of 10) 4

All four of my guys got sick after using it, and I have read other posts about the same problem. Everyone was lethargic, loss of appetite...just not "right" for about 2 days. The repellant effect was not worth the side effect.

Really? Only my one horse with UBER sensative skin was bothered, the other one didn't mind it. I'll watch out for that, though.

I have only used EquiSpot fly control in the spring when the ticks are really bad. I don't use it for fly control b/c it doesn't seem to last very long.
BUT, it does work well when applied directly to the backs of my horse's legs to keep the ticks from racing up their legs, when I go trail riding in he springtime. It is one thing that I found to be effective for that. Of course its a one shot deal, or maybe effective for a couple days in a row, but not particularly long lasting. JMO, RB

I used it on my mare before I read about the problems they've had with it. She didn't have any reactions, but it only lasted about 5 days.
